How much did you spend on PJ in 2014

EddieshometownEddieshometown Evanston, IL Posts: 986
Was talking to a few high school friends about seeing several Pearl Jam shows and the question came up how much did I think I spent on them. I was guessing about $1200 (tickets, posters, custom framing, and clothes) but probably would need to add on at least $600 more for travel related expenses such as hotels. Worth every penny!

I think just the $80 I spent for Vault 4 plus my $50 membership fee. Yay me, except it means I saw no shows, so boo.

$200 on 2 shows about. Probably about $700 on vinyl records, 5 t shirts, both old and new- $100. I'm going to say $1000, but I'm too lazy to really figure it out. That's probably pretty close though.

I did 7 shows on the tour this year and between tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars, merch, gas, food & beverages plus other miscellaneous tour expenses I'm over $5200 just for the tour!!
I also added up the items in my order history and it's at $664.92.
I'm sure I'm forgetting other things too...so I'm gonna go with right around $6000 this year.
BUT between the shows, meeting so many new friends AND catching up with all of my touring buddies I had met in the past made it worth EVERY single penny!!

I never thought to look at it like that. Here's my 2014:
    Auckland 1/17/14
    GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14
    Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14
    Milan 6/20/14
    Berlin 6/26/14
    Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14
    St. Louis 10/3/14

11 shows in 7 countries, according to TripIt 4+47+36=87 days travelling but that includes a LOT of days that were just travel and nothing to do with seeing PJ. I didn't buy a LOT of merch - sticker/pin from each show, hoodie, tank top, hat, two posters, but one was a donation, and the little airline wings pin. Oh and the tote bag. Okay I guess I bought more merch than I thought. But in my defense the hoodie and hat were unexpected weather related purchases. And the singlet was adorable while it lasted, unfortunately after a few washings it became too see through to wear.

so if we're not counting travel expenses - I doubt I spent $3gs. If we are counting travel expenses I do not want to figure it out :)

It came out to be like $304.94 Not too bad for a yearly total on PJ merch and one show plus one hotel stay and membership renewal.

I wondered what your yearly total was going to be. It's great that you were able to do that and had the time at work that you could take off. Truly, a once in a lifetime tour opportunity. I know that you can (and probably would) do it again, but each and every tour would be different. Glad that you could go and enjoy with all of the touring buddies and friends!

As for me, I'm kicking a little over $300. It's okay. You made up for my slackin'. ;)

  • Yikes, this thread makes me feel a little guilty a couple days removed from Xmas. Spent about $2200 on one show, a bunch of merch, vinyl and boots. Probably could of used some that to buy better gifts for the kids and family.

OH WELL, merry Christmas to me!
