I don't even see the point in going to a show if I can't hear it.

    Totally agree!
  • I would much rather hear it than see it..

    why?

Because the energy seems to be intensified by sound of the music..I can't muffle out the sound to match deafness so I can't truly honestly answer that.. But I do know I would be heartbroken if I couldn't HEAR a show.

This was not a trolling question...

I would like to think that a person that could not hear the show could certainly feel and see the aspect with other senses.
  • I literally just had this conversation with my family last week (I think we were talking about Helen Keller). Would you rather lose your sight or hearing? I chose hearing, and my wife and teen-aged son said sight. Obviously no right answer but it is interesting to hear responses and why...

They could, but what's the point exactly? Just to stand there watching people enjoying music you can't hear, and watching the band performing music you can't hear? I would think that would be more depressing than anything else, reminding you of what you're missing out on.... Or it would at least get pretty old after about 20 minutes.

I was answering honestly, not as if it were a troll question. I don't think it would be as powerful just seeing it, though I think you would FEEL it more. But I'd much prefer hearing it..

Ironically she dreams in colors, she dreams in red, refers to going to bed black and blue and bloody, not sure based on the meaning and content of the song, why so many people affix a whole new meaning to it. It is about living in an abusive relationship

I think that must have been very awesome for the chick on stage, and I'm sure it was very cool for all the other people there who can hear what's going on.
If the deaf people can get up on stage and do what she did in front of an adoring crowd, then it would probably make rock concerts much more appealing to them, lol.

But hey, show me a deaf person who loves going to rock concerts and i will accept their reasons as to why. I just can't imagine how it could be worth the money.

For another perspective on music without one sense, I suggest searching out Given to Fly from St. Louis, 2000.

    I fucking love Kym :)

I can tell you that listenning to music without hearing is...not funny at all : i'm partially deaf (right side : -90 % / left side : -30%)...replace sounds by vibrations : it's very weird. I love this version of Given to Fly : This woman is so expressive ! we can feel intensity in the song without hearing ...that's why we all love this version i think....but trust me : absolutely nothing can replace Eddie's voice !

Not laughing, my French friend! If OK to ask, has your hearing loss been gradual?

I've read how vibrations - bass, etc. - are read/heard/felt. Beautiful how we all get it in our own way, sense, path.

And yes, Kym is absolutely beautiful in her passion. Love the dancing twirl at the end as well.
