Am I the only one (selling of merchandise PJ related)

.....Am I the only one disgusted by some Pearl Jam fans on this forum and online that feel entitled to everything PJ related and cause a shit storm towards people that sell merchandise that they purchased through fan club /etc?

There are people on facebook and in these forums that constantly complain when things go onsale in "limited" quantities and they dont get their chance at them if they sell out..... Then God forbid if they pop up on ebay like fan club tickets or anything bought through the fanclub, where people post links to "f up their sale" or "I cant believe this piece of sh!t"......... but yet on THESE FORUMS a Pearl Jam Moline poster that cost $30 at a show and sold out via the fan club can easily go for $220-$250. AP versions that cost $100 are going for $500-600. Why arent "fan club" members trading/selling these items for list prices they paid for them? why is it allowed to sell a poster 7x the original cost but selling tickets is a SIN?

Whats with the exorbitant amount of hypocrisy in these forums? I just read about someone complaining that someone is holding "For Ransom" an extra MLB RSD vinyl, when the person was just hoping to TRADE for a bootleg or something someone didnt need.

Some of you need to wake up and realize that life isnt about manipulating the public or being spiteful when someone has something you want or couldnt get in time. Its kind of sad that some PJ fans feel so entitled to ruin peoples' auctions and sales or trades, when its none of their business. If you feel so strongly about taking ACTION..... please use those efforts in other areas of life. Donate $5 to a homeless person, donate to charity, help an elderly lady cross the street. Do something POSITIVE.

Karma doesnt get people that do as they please with items they used their hard earned money to purchase. Noone is being robbed. Karma hits those that try to affect another person/thing that had nothing to do with them in the first place.

This is AMERICA. Where anyone/everyone is free to do as they please.

Happy Holidays.

Give a homeless person $5, they eat for the day. Give a homeless person a Moline print, they eat for a month.
  • ooops clicked send too early = @TinAnt - true. But be careful, they may be reported if they try to sell for over that $30!!!!!!

The fact that you can do what every you please doesn't make it right.

If I sell my tickets I sell them for what I paid and don't try to make a profit on them.
With a poster or LP it is different, I don't expect people to sell a collecter's item they've bought years ago for a price they paid back in the day. Unless you buy it to sell it straight away, I am fine with it. But tickets should be sold for a regular price in my opinion.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

  • You're not the only one, of course there are those that are "Great Sellers" and those that sell the items at a "Great Price" because they are part of what feels like the IN crowd on this forum, but if a person who doesn't post here frequently or isn't as well known around here as others are, those people are immediately vilified practicing the same sale methods. Now I haven't been accused of flipping or driving up prices, this is just my observation of how things are here. It's definitely tiring to read and I step away for a while at times. But I agree, if two people are making a deal, i.e. a trade or sale, and those involved are content, people need to just step aside and let things play out. There's no need for this sense of entitlement and desire to screw with other people's shit.

I'm not happy paying inflated prices for things here or ebay just like everyone else, but if I have to pay what the going price is and I want it badly enough then I follow through with it,
I understand people getting pissed off about missing out on their show posters and limited items, it sucks, everyone has had that happen at one point or another, but nothing is going to change and this is unfortunately the reality of collecting Pearl Jam merchandise. I also don't remember seeing anywhere that limited items sold here or at shows were a guaranteed part of my 10c membership, Its not the end of the world if people miss out on something

If you have an extra Mike Music for Film vinyl I'll give you $15 and pay for shipping...

it is what it is.... you cant stop the $$ machine.

I do agree with you though, missing out on a limited item is not the end of the world.

At the end of this month I will not be renewing my membership here.
There are too many on here that complain or attack another person for what they are trying to sell something for.
It is very close to cyber bullying if you ask me. 10 people jump on a post to put someone down.
I have never had this issue, but have seen to much of it.

I have actually seen the good that a flipper will do. It makes me take a step back and say,
hey, do I really need this item at that price. And if so, that person has reserved me a copy, just at a higher price. If not, I have saved a few dollars for my wallet.
So if there is a limited release of 100 posters and they all sold to people who wanted to keep them, how do I get one ...

There are GREAT people on here, and I will miss dealing with them.

Good Luck to you all !!

    In my opinion

The value is only what someone is willing to pay… and that could be below or higher then market value.

Second the flippers do suck. But there is not much you can do about it. I don’t feel they are true fans and they are after trying to make money.

Third about the rules… with the site not named… if there are no auction or no post to ebay then why does it still happen? And why will someone post on somebody ISO item… “Oh there’s one up on site not named” why post that if it’s not allowed???

Is it to try and tell the person looking for the item that hey I have what you want but you are going to pay what I want to sell it for, not what you are willing to pay for or trade for it???
So in that words right there people are posting ebay.

Just this past week, there has been a guy trying to sell vault 3 and ukulele vinyl in a lot and I sent him a DM saying I would pay X amount for it… he came and said no I can’t sell it for that. Which is fine, but also in his message she pasted a link to his ebay page selling exactly what he had listed in lost dogs.

So should I turn in this guy what sent a link to his ebay page?

The sad but truth of the matter is, lost dogs is a nice site/forum but it is not perfect, and I don’t think it ever will be. There will always be someone to try and pull one over on someone. But if we send more issues to ten club about so and so breaking the rules sooner or later ten club will get pissed and then take down lost dogs in all. And then we will have no other option then ebay or facebook page to find pearl jam merch and pay even higher prices.

My opinion… like it or not

    Big long rant removed.

If you sell for a dollar more than you bought it for, you made a profit. Whether it's $350 or $50, it's a profit. Make the forum retail price only, or let people sell for what they want.

Forum rules require you to sell 10C tickets at face value. But otherwise I totally hear ya, OP! I get really tired of "the price police" trolling every for sale/for trade thread. It seems to be happening a lot more lately.
Between that and the constant bitching and whining "Ten Club should do this, Ten Club should do that." Ten Club doesn't owe any of us a damn thing! They give us more than enough for $20 or $40 a year, especially when you compare them to a lot of fan clubs out there.
It's really disheartening to know that these things have become such a prevalent problem that long time members and forum users are leaving over it.
  • I think the Ten Club should give us all wollypops %-(

I always find it amusing when people say "on that auction site". I say EBAY all the time on here. EBAY EBAY EBAY. you don't get in shit for mentioning the site. you just can't show links to items on it.

Well you aren't allowed to sell fan club tickets above face value, so if anyone is doing that then people should crap on them and then report them to 10C.

As for the rest.... it's a free market. People can do what they want with their own stuff. And limited edition stuff is a love/hate thing. We all love it.... as long as we score it. Lol! ;) But I agree, to moan and complain because you missed out on a limited edition whatever seems petty.

Personally, the prices on eBay are 75% of the time lower than on here. I have always laugh when i see people here bitching about eBay when the true price gouging is happening right here in house.

My dad always says, "It is only worth what someone will pay for it." I don't agree or disagree with anything anyone has said, but if someone is willing to pay for it, then sell it.

Personally, I wouldn't pay 100 bucks for a LP Benny let alone 700, but I also just spend 5 bucks on an R.E.M. cassette that I know I will never listen to but really wanted. People work for their money, they can spend it the way they want.

I agree robert. Value is in the eye if the owner and buyer. Just sad when the owner's intent was to hurry and buy something that they never intended to keep, only to make money off of other fans.

Sadly, that is where PJ merchandise is now. But just like everything, ya cant complain about it as long as people are buying. As in all products in the world, if people stop buying things, the prices will go down, cause people dont wanna be stuck with things they didnt want in the first place.

  • I took a break as I lost interest as well. Then I saw what Milwaukee posters were going for and figured even with a 10c membership priced in if I got one here it was well worth it and worth the $20 risk. I think the way things have gone with merchandise prices and attitudes I didn't like it anymore, and now I lean more toward not caring too much about the social aspects and just getting the things I personally want for my collection and 10c tickets when I can. Hopefully that changes at some point.
