North Korea threatened to attack if they included Red Dot so Pearl jam pulled it from the bootleg.

Uhhhh. I'm pretty sure the OP is kidding. Because I can't imagine anyone being so upset that they would actually consider it a blunder that a song that isn't even worthy enough to play live is not included on the bootleg.

To be fair I think many people like to hear the whole show so having anything splice out no matter how bad it is, is less than desirable. At least that's how I view it. Especially because it's them play Yield it's entirely, why not include the wart? :)

To be fair, nobody REALLY knows what anything we type on the internet means or how we mean to say it.

  • Have they ever included the walk-on music with any of the bootlegs?

I always like it when you can hear the intro music winding down on some boots. I definitely remember hearing the symphonic Baba on some 2k boots and Metamorphosis on a boot or 2 from more recent shows. I don't necessarily think they need to have the whole thing, but it would be kinda neat to have that and the crowd swell included.

In fairness to the op, Red Dot did have more significance as an opener than your typical show.

I'm sure their reel-to-reel tape recorder or whatever archaic technology they use must've broken during that part. You know that's always the case.

To my dismay, they included the 10 minute show-killing speech by that EB doctor on the st paul boot.

I agree with you OP. One of the things I was most looking forward to was hearing the show open with Red Dot. Was really looking forward to hearing how it was pulled off live. Kind of blows that its not on the boot.

It was not played live, it was the recording played though the speakers as they walked on stage

Since it was a recording and not played live, that would be why it wasn't included on the boot. They didn't actually play it. Is it the same case with Hummus? They didn't actually play that either, did they?

(It's here that I tell you that I wasn't there. I'm just going by what I was told/read, so I could very well be wrong.)

Hummus was not played live either. Studio recording played as he band walked off stage.

If you don't like the st Paul speech, and have itunes, right click on the song, scroll down to "get info", select options and adjust the stop time so the speech is edited out.

  • Because this bugs me everytime I read it, the following is a public service announcement:
    1. The Dr. Spoke for about two minutes total. The rest was Ed if you have a problem with the length take it up with him.
    2. What he said was beautiful and spent most of it praising Ed, the rest of the band and us.
    3. That show was very high energy and we kinda needed the break because holy cow did they just giver for that whole show.
    4.evenflow82 is right.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming:
It is a total bummer that Red Dot and Hummus are not on the official boots. It can be fixed digitally with the Aud. Boot but still not on the CDs.
