First question answered. Now more framing please.

2nd question, I need to frame one and without going through 50 pages in the Framed Thread I am looking for ideas. I want to do posters myself but not this one.

So need help with that.

Thanks

  • Also I have a Laminate, stub to frame with it. I might use the set list and stickers too.

It had a wrinkle. I'm shocked at these prices. OK, now to framing one.

Who has some ideas. Where's 2legs at?

    I wouldn't count a wrinkle, I was just going by expressobeans.com prices.

  • I traded a Detroit Uncut S/N for mine. So that doesn't help the price question I guess...but I used a single blue mat

No unfortunately, I don't. I would say that the last sale for $699.99 looks suspect.....it appears to be have been relisted for $749.99, but I can't find an original buyer.

  • Agree with the price comments, and I think most any print you look at will have a one-off sale that will be much lower than the others here and there. Because they use ebay pricing I would imagine that variance can be pretty high based on timing.

For example, I was researching the Pitt 13 I just picked up. The price has steadily risen to the last one selling a few days ago for $399. I'd imagine that is because the only other one available is listed at $649 obo.

On the flip side, the Moline print seems to be settling down. There have been a bunch sold the past few weeks, and there are like 17 or 18 available. Competition is high, brings the price down. Economics 101 even applies to PJ prints.

The crackerjack only has 2 available at this point for $749 obo and $1200 (AP). It looks like they are drying up.

You can also watch trends in these forums. You'll see quite a few Moline posters being offered for various items (so it does align with ebay), to include crackerjacks. Most all mentions of the crackerjack in recent threads are people trying to get one, not trade one, and those threads don't seem to be having any luck.

I'm too lazy to give a half assed analysis of any EB print sales right now, but I'm going to guess they fall in line. That was a fun exercise though. Interested to hear others' thoughts on the above and pricing trends in general.

The market is flooded with Molines, but Pitt did the same thing several months back. There were some for sale for under $200 for quite some time. Now they are scarce, same with the Cracker Jack.

There seems to be an explosion in the beginning with high prices, people flip and the market is flooded, and then the supply dries up and the high permanent price sets in.

If anyone wants a Moline, you better get it now at $200-$250......it will most definitely follow the way of Pitt and Cracker Jack within the next 6-months!!

Not disputing your point, legitimate question though...why do you feel Moline will spike again? I would have thought after the initial hype settled that would bring prices back to earth permanently? I was lucky to get a 10c version, so I'm luckily not in the market for one if what you expect to happen actually does

I won't speak for front spacer, but I agree with that sentiment. I believe it is because prices spike initially, drop down as competition sets in, but at some point the supply dries up because all the flipping is done with and all those that are paying $200+ aren't putting those back into the market.

Some people inevitably wait hoping the price will settle down (as you stated) but in the case of really popular prints, the lack of supply drives the price up again. People can start asking what they want when there are no other options and no one is willing to part with theirs.

It definitely makes sense so I can see what you both are saying, I guess I'm just surprised by that trend, when I really shouldn't be as I've seen things get crazy here and in person over merch. I guess I was just looking at it from the standpoint that the Pittsburgh and Cracker Jack and many other posters are superior compared to Moline (that is just my opinion and some may disagree) I guess I just expected the demand for that print to die down after the initial rush that's all

That pretty much sums it up.

Moline is highly sought after, and highly flipped right now. There won't always be 10 or 15 available, and then the high permanent price sets in like with Cracker Jack and Pitt. There may be some sales that dip below $200 because someone just wants to unload it, but when that goes away.....I see this being a solid $275-$350 poster.

Let's not forget that the MSG Kong was less than $200 back in 2012 and less than $300 last year. Now people are lining up to pay $400+ for it!! Why? Because you can't find it!!

It's like how a lot of the posters sell for high right when the show happens then drop. And stay dropped. Only the "nice" posters, one or two per tour, increase again once they all disappear. I was shocked at all the Wrigley prices the past few months. Cracker Jack was always the one out of four to GET. I did a trade for mine last fall and just got it framed. PIcked it up yesterday. Didn't want to spend a ton so got a basic black wood frame and 2" blue matting to match the blue in the poster. Figured with the value of that one, I better get it framed over some of the cheaper valued posters in my folio.

I'm still torn if I should frame my Cracker Jack AP or the 1998 St. Louis. Ahhhh... decisions, decisions.
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

I saw one with yellow matting too. So I have seen all 3 borders now.

I was leaning that way as well. But with all this Cracker Jack talk it made me rethink my decision. The St. Louis 1998 is my favorite 1998 poster hands down!
