Not for sale or trade, but I figured this was the best spot to let it get in front of the eyes of the type of fans who would appreciate it most.
A couple weeks ago, I had a chance to get in on a very limited deal from U.K. artist Paul Shipper. He's worked with a lot of big Hollywood studios, and his work really is amazing. Essentially, you bought the opportunity to have him do a 5x5 original sketch of the subject of your choosing.
So I found a good image of Eddie from the Wrigley Field show, and sent that on to Paul for my sketch. And the second part of my request I figured was a longshot, which was to have the Wrigley scoreboard from that night as the background. Considering the way he does these sketches typically is just one subject, I wasn't holding my breath.
But man, did he ever come through. This is the finished product, which arrived today – way faster than I ever imagined he could've knocked it out and sent it from England, given he had others to do, too.
Current plan is to frame it with my Wrigley ticket, Eddie autograph and an Eddie pick. I'm THINKING about maybe including the photos of Eddie and the scoreboard with it to show where the sketch originated from, but if that detracts from the piece, I'll back off.
At any rate, I've been kinda floating around the house while working all afternoon after this arrived. Pretty damn thrilled with how it turned out.
