I wish Ian Williams had charged $85 for his Moline poster, and that it was still available to purchase 30 minutes after going on-sale.
I like Don Pendleton's art, but I wasn't at that show, so I don't need it.0 -
Interesting work. The first one on the site reminds me of Picasso's Girl in the Mirror.0

I think he should sell them for that much. It's better than people flipping them on eBay for double. The artist should make most of the profit.0

Keep in mind that these artists don't get a commission on show sales or any type of contractual payment from the band or venue. They only money they make is from proof sales. That being said, ol' Pendledon made a quick $8500 yesterday!! I need to start drawing circles, triangles, & trapezoids for a living!Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

Artists don't get a cut of ALL poster sales? - @ show, sold later by 10C ? I don't have any clue, personally..... I'm just surprised to hear that they only make money from the S/N editions they sell.HesCalledDyer said:Keep in mind that these artists don't get a commission on show sales or any type of contractual payment from the band or venue. Keep in mind that art is subjective and as such, some like a particular work and some don't. My degree is in printmaking, so I probably look at it a little differently than most. I cringe when I hear someone saying that something "sucks." It's not your thing and that is cool. It's a fairly specific style and I get that it isn't appealing to everyone. Skulls aren't my thing and a lot of the posters this round had some skull somewhere. It's not that I find that their craft sucks, but again, the style is just absolutely not me. I'm sure that Don put a lot of heart and soul into creating the print and if you like it, buy it. If you don't like it, then don't buy it. I agree with PJRadio. I bought it. I'm happy about it and it hangs on my hallway wall.october22 said:Jesus, this guy sucks. Sorry, but Brooklyn killed it for me and this is more of the same. Just horrible.

Well said. I'll be the first to admit that this "style" did not speak to me at all at first (when I saw Brooklyn). That was the case until recently when I ordered the Cincinnati AP/SN (because I didn't get one at the show due to the ridiculous lines)...I didn't particularly like it, but I "needed" this since I was in attendance. Shortly after ordering the AP/SN curiosity got the best of me and I read about Don Pendleton and his "style". Now that I have better understanding of his "style" I have a better appreciation for his work and I look forward to getting it framed and hanging it up somewhere in the house.deadendp said:

Not as bad as the 150 pounds + s/h charged for the Denver A/P (which is still available)BRAIN0FJAY said:Dandy Don's AP/SN poster will be up for grabs at 4 PM (EST) today!
:-t I must say that I think this fucker is nuts! Eighty-five dollars ($85) seems a bit much...
"Fucker" is not a bad thing (those of you that attended the Cincinnati show should know this).
Again...as a public service announcement...Don Pendleton has his AP/SN Cincinnati poster up for sale at 4 PM today.0 -
almost a similar experience to mine.BRAIN0FJAY said:
