Gracepoint - who dunnit?

Doubt this thread will go far, but is anyone watching this?

They seem to be making it pretty obvious that the priest must have done it, but maybe that's their goal to make us think that, to throw us off the scent. :P

Not watching it, but I do know it was filmed in my general area, and many, many teenaged girls regularly mobbed the scene.

Did they? Why? Haven't noticed anyone mob-worthy on this show, lol.

Looks like a really nice area to live! :) I actually didn't realize it was filmed in BC. It crossed my mind, but nothing looked particularly familiar. I don't know the island super well though. Only been there maybe 10 times in my life, and the last time I was in Victoria was probably 5 years ago.

Two words - David Tennant. I understand they scuffed him up a bit for this role, though.

Yes, it was filmed in various locations near me; mostly Oak Bay but some in Sidney, too.

I tried watching this but I just can't. I was a huge fan of Broadchurch and I gave Gracepoint a fair chance but I gave up after the second ep. I'll binge it at the end of the season.

  • My Girlfriend watches it and has it recorded. I haven't jumped into it yet. I am leery it might be like The Killing and that show pissed me off after awhile.

The whole witch hunt for Nick Nolte got on my nerves. We all know he didn't do it, so the fixation of the show's characters on that became almost immediately tedious (and kind of depressing), and the end of the last episode made me sad and depressed and annoyed at the same time. :-< I'm still thinking it's the priest, but am very curious about what role that nutjob old lady has in it, since she has the kid's skateboard and is so fucking shifty.

I've started watching this since it's over. What's the song playing at the end of episode 6? When Captain Jack is playing the piano and on until the end? I swear I know it but I can't think from where and is gonna make me sick!!

PS - Broadchurch 2 starts early Jan on ITV and a month later on BBC America.

Not sure, but I just watched the last 2 episodes, and it's fairly shocking.

90% of Gracepoint was a shot for shot remake of Broadchurch. Even the dialogue, it was just re-worded for American dialect.

I think that since you guys saw Gracepoint first you are going to prefer it. I am a little disappointed Fox isn't renewing it.

I'm still in 'no spoiler' mode for this but I will rewatch the original show too since the second season starts in less than a month.
I first watched Broadchurch with a friend and neither of us is the particularly emotional type but that show hit on allllllllllll the feels. and was very suspenseful. There's another show it's "just like" I wanna say The Killing? But I'd never seen or heard of it.

I was a big fan of Broadchurch and, like others in this thread, I bailed a few episodes in on Gracepoint. Just seemed very watered down. Was the same person the killer in Gracepoint? You can pm me so we don't spoil it for people who haven't seen it. "The Missing" on Starz is really good. I'm excited to hear Broadchurch is coming back. I thought it was a one time thing.

FWIW I think the reveal was too rushed on Gracepoint. They should've left some additional time to deal with that.

I agree. I was a little miffed by how they did it actually. I mean, it was really such a blindside that it made the other 8 episodes seem pointless. Unless I'm forgetting something, nothing at all hinted towards the "dirty little secret" that was revealed. I think that mysteries should always have some cryptic foreshadowing that becomes clear in hindsight... but that didn't happen here, so I felt like I'd been taken on a wild goosechase a bit.

The ONLY hint was when the csi dude's said the footprints they found.. That twist was the difference between Gracepoint and Broadchurch, and I actually did end up figuring it out. Because of the changes they made to accommodate that twist. Better than then leaving it exactly the same, but even with two extra episodes they left it till like the last half hour? Lol c'mon.
