Swap meet?

Has anyone on the board ever try to schedule a formal swap meet to make trading/buying/selling a lot more convenient? I'm not much of a planner but I would think some bar would be happy to reserve a room for the business.

It's a cool idea. I don't exactly live in a hot bed of PJ activity but I'm sure this could work in larger cities.

  • I would think that there are too few rare items in a concentrated area? Cool idea, and if you could get the casual fan who has items stored away in a closet then that would be cool!

Actually, I don't think you can get much more convenient then dealing on the internet.
You don't have to fly/drive to some designated city and schlep all your fragile collectibles with you.

Has anyone ever had any issues with doing a trade by mail from this board? Example: You ship your items but the other side doesn't ship theirs.

I've been trading on here for years and have never had one bad trade, everyone I've dealt with has been A+

You do see the occasional thread of a trade gone bad, but it let's everyone else know who not to trade with.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

    Neither have I.
  • I'd be down for a Seattle swap. Anyone with organizational skills wanna run with it?
  • It would be cool if 10C would sponsor something like this. Pay a little homage to the collectors out there.

We have PJ collectors web site, which is a Godsend and nothing really after that.

I would love to see other people's collections!

Didn't they have something like this for the Mexico City shows? I think there is a clip on YouTube.

The 201 Mexico City show had tons of 'counterfeit' items for sale. It was crazy ... shirts for $5 and so much more. I met a guy that said he worked for the band and he was out searching for items for band members (unique stuff( ... which I found strange? I initially thought they would try to shut it down ... this wouldn't happen in the ole' US of A!! But they had some real cool things and so much of it. Probably 50-75 tents set up selling anything and everything. Shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, scarfs, posters, pictures, stickers, buttons, bootleg cds and dvds and much much more. I was able to pick up really cool unique kid t-shirts for my kids after the show ... but wish I had more time to look before show since it was a cool experience.

I have had that happen once here. It happens. Just use more caution with who I trade with now and put it behind me. Luckily for me, it was a handful of shirts and not something like a Benny or a blue Vs. That would have been harder to swallow. But then, I think I may have taken more precautions with items like that. But like I said, I think it can happen to the best of us. Statistics tell us if we deal with enough different people we will come into contact with assholes. Fact.

Don't be afraid to ask someone for a name or two of someone they have dealt with on the board before. Or check their history to see if they have interacted/traded with others.

All that said, I've had successful transactions with dozens of people here and made some solid cyber-friends in doing so. Lost Dogs is thee best trading forum I've been a part of and I've dealt with a few different ones over the years (used to trade tapes via snail mail, then cd-r trading before the bit torrent and file sharing rage).
