Proposal: LOST CITIES TOUR

djklambakedjklambake PHX, AZ Posts: 2,510
Coming off the heels of the band's righteous midwest 2014 tour (personally privileged to have seen Pearl Jam play at ACL2 and Denver), and having been rather jazzed to see they recently went to Moline, Memphis and Tulsa, I was thinking there's definitely some more real estate the band has never or rarely touched in the USofA, and it'd be pretty rad to see them do a "LOST CITIES" tour in the states some time… Rarely-toured areas that could accommodate a big crowd (even a few places the band has been before)… Places like…

Tucson, AZ
Flagstaff, AZ
Santa Fe, NM
Anchorage, AL
Wilmington, DE
Boise, ID
Billings, MT
Sioux Falls, SD
Burlington, VT
Providence, RI
Manchester, NH
Cheyenne, WY
Little Rock, AK
Santa Cruz, CA
Indio, CA
Madison, WI
San Juan, PR
Honolulu, HI
Bethlehem/Allentown, PA
Knoxville, TN
Lansing, MI
Rochester, NY
Portland, ME
Green Bay, WI
El Paso, TX
Myrtle Beach, SC
Reno, NV
Tallahassee, FL
Topeka, KS

Apologies if I've forgotten any cities that ought to be on the list...

(I know, I know… "They haven't been to XXX in over 10 years, why would they tour in a place like Flagstaff or Reno?!?!" I get it, I really do… I personally enjoy traveling to new states and new cities… this tour it was the first time I'd ever set foot in Austin or Denver, and I had a BLAST in both cities… It'd be a nice excuse to travel to parts of the country some of us have never seen…).

Anyhow… whaddya think?

Des Moines, Iowa has a nice new 16,000 seat arena! Pearl Jam has never played here and only played in Iowa twice.

We're really close to Seattle. We might have a small arena, but we'd make an excellent place to do a warmup show :)

I should also mention, I'm a huge proponent of there being a Canadian tour in 2015. I love Canadians - probably the most positive Pearl Jam concert I've ever been to was in Vancouver in 2011. Granted, many of the concertgoers came up from Seattle, but the Canadians I met were just good, solid, positive people.

Hershey, PA. - play the arena and not the stadium this time

Would love to see this happen. Arena has less than 10,000 seats. It was modeled after Maple Leaf Gardens and the Forum in Montreal. Super steep steps, since it was Depression-era construction, which means you can have the worst seat in the house -- with your back against the arched-cement ceiling -- and have a better view than most modern-day arenas. Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in a game here, since Philly played the Knicks back when the NBA farmed out games to drum up interest in the sport. And the venue still brings out sections of the floor for special occasions (Globetrotters, anniversary of the game) for fans to see.

Could Ament play bass on stage while standing on a section of the old 'Wilt' floor?

Tell me that wouldn't be awesome.

Portland, ME is on the list so I am down. Great city, food, and bar scene. However, I would say come in the summer and hit up Acadia National Park or Baxter State Park after.

I would also say hit up the Augusta Civic Center. Not much of a town, but the last time they played Maine was Augusta in 1996

They haven't played Houston in many years as well. And that's kind of a crime. Houston is huge!
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

Oh and and thanks for adding Madison and Green Bay, Wisconsin. Though... after Milwaukee's amazing show and Alpine getting PJ20... I don't see either happening anytime soon.

    Victoria, BC - Haven't played here since 1992 :)

We're really close to Seattle. We might have a small arena, but we'd make an excellent place to do a warmup show :)

    Great idea!
2 shows would be ideal for our area
    Make it worth it :)

Des Moines, Iowa has a nice new 16,000 seat arena! Pearl Jam has never played here and only played in Iowa twice.

    Absolutely!
