I need help from a Detroit local please

Heading to Detroit tomorrow with a few friends for PJ. Staying through Sunday (saints/lions) game. I need some tips. Places downtown to go after the show Thursday? We are staying at the Westin and have dinner plans at Roast Friday night. Any tips on local bars for after dinner? Other places to go Friday and Saturday night? We are in our mid 30s and looking to go nice bars/pubs/taverns - no clubs. Also, we plan to venture over to Windsor at some point. Any tips? Maybe a nice restaurant?
Thanks a ton

  • Old Shillelagh on Monroe st. is a cool Irish pub...all walks of life in there makes for a good party atmosphere! Thats where me and my buddies are hitting after the show and we are mid 30s

You hit the jackpot with Roast, best in my opinion downtown. Prism is nice in Greektown Casino, steer away from the MGM restaurants, overhyped and overpriced.
Try Wright and Company downtown, great bar and small plate restaurant, just opened in late July. Takes no reservations, wait is sometimes long, kitchen open until midnight I believe, bar until 2. Best cocktail bar by far downtown is the Sugar House.

  • If you like BBQ, Slows in Corktown. We don't spend a lot of time in the city, but I do really like Detroit Beer Company and you guys can probably take the people mover to get there.

Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated. Roast looks legit. I can't wait to try it.

    Any tips on Windsor?

Don't really spend too much time in Windsor anymore, but I hope you brought passports if you're looking to go over there. Not as easy as it used to be to get across the border.

As far as stuff to do for the weekend, do you guys have a car? If you're staying for the Lions game you can head over to Eastern Market and tailgate with us. It's Pumpkin Bowling Day. :)
