Let's Talk Lincoln - Images

I use a pocket Canon G16 for shows, so I don't have to lug around my DSLR gear... or even attempt to get it in. It'd be hard to enjoy the show with it....now actual access to roam with my gear at even one show would be.....wheww..nevermind...haha my bad heart probably couldn't handle that anyways...;)
so please remember quality wise not taken with DSLR........and HAHA...NOoooo, I'm not one of those people that never put the camera down. I usually snap off a few shots every 3rd or 4th song, then put it away and enjoy..

I'm not a professional photographer. I just do it for a creative release. I was forced to retire early due to heart issues, got into sports photography a couple of years ago to get decent images of my daughter who played HS volleyball and now my youngest is a senior starting at 2nd base.
I just use the same mentality and fundamentals learned from sports.. fast shutter speeds, blast off as many as possible in a row in hope of getting 1 good one.
You have super fast action, like sports... But unlike sports, the lighting is constantly changing, so this makes it a lot harder than sports. Balancing the shutter speed and aperture with things changing rapidly is challenging and the reason most small cameras/phones can't handle it. I use a Canon G16 for shows and as a carry around pocket camera. Nice because it has the exact setting dials as my Canon DSLR...
Like my sports images for my sons teammates.. All my PJ images are free to be downloaded for all members.. All I ask is that they're not to be used for anything involving profit.

thanks for sharing,
I also love photography. Like you, I wanted to use it for "creative release" purposes, but can't seem to make time (more my fault rather than an excuse). So I end up with a bunch of the typical vacation/family shots. Nice for memories, but not exactly a creative outlet. I agree that lighting is everything and something that no smartphone can handle in extreme circumstances. Concerts being a major one. So my iPhone pics from the concert, well, they suck.
I also have kids in sports but don't faithfully take my DSLR to games. I need to do that more because they really are the best pics. My kids are younger (8th and 6th grade)...been married for 28 years, but it took us a little while to git 'er done.
Again, thanks for your generosity. I will definitely download your pics for the memories they will provide me and my wife!
BTW, will you be taking more in St. Paul?
Our next show will be Denver... will post images afterwards.
And take more pics of those kids.. they grow fast. Hard for me to believe our youngest is now a senior.. crazy..
My son Kyle... his Junior year.. He plays High School Division 6A in Oklahoma, starts at 2nd base... one of the toughest HS leagues in the country..
