Shakey Graves

Any fans? New album, "And The War Came" is out and I think it's rather well done. Great mix of folk, blues, alt-country and rock.

He is absolutely amazing--so, so talented. Huge fan here. Hoping to see him live soon, but looks like there's no dates near me.

Stumbled upon his set at Hangout Fest this summer and really dug his show. Haven't checked the album but will do so.

Quick review by me to aid anyone who still might be on the fence.

Also here's a shot I took of Shakey earlier this year, one of my favorite photos this past summer:

A couple stand out tracks for me are "Family and Genus," "Perfect Parts," and "Hard Wired".

Was able to finally catch him in June and WOW. He puts on one hell of a show. Much more lively than I was expecting, too. I'd see him again in a heartbeat.

Saw Shakey open for City and Color last night and he was awesome! We walked up to our 7th row seats about 15 minutes before show start and noticed on stage 4 guys sitting at a table sharing a bottle of wine. Guy gets a phone call on his cell, talks for a minute and then takes 10 steps to his guitar and starts playing his show. Classic :)

My cousin was at the show in Red Deer and is RAVING about Shakey Graves. I ended up selling my tickets to help fund Hip tix (we actually got them from Ticketmaster!!!) but I will definitely have to check him out. How was City and Color?? I prefer the old acoustic mostly solo stuff, I was wondering how he is with a big and now???

I went to see Shakey (and Loved his show) and went in only knowing a bit of City and Colour (I'm actually a big alexisonfire fan too) I came out a bigger fan of City and Colour than when I went in, bought the latest album at the merch stand. Really enjoyed the show and will give more of his music a listen, Dallas is really super talented and has incredible musicians playing with him, including Jack Lawrence - Raconteurs, Dead Weather.

I was expecting a low key acoustic type show with the band joining in for probably half the songs, but it was actually a bigger production than that, full on lights, full on band and electric for 90% of the show. Encore started with 2 or 3 solo acoustic by Dallas and the crowd ate it up. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

Gah now I'm dissapointed I missed it. Not too many opportunities to see live stuff in Red Deer. Well good stuff anyways.

I'm pretty envious. I think it's awesome he gets his own day in Austin.
