Ticketmaster question: Anyone having difficulty transfering tickets?

Hi there, I'm sold a spare ticket to another fan and am trying to transfer the ticket to her so that it's no longer in my name but it doesn't look like Ticketmaster allows me to. Is anyone else having this same issue? Specifically this is for St. Paul.

IIRC, if you have ever viewed the ticket, like you were going to print it, then it cannot be transferred so that "people" can't double (or triple) sell them.

You can always save the ticket as PDF file and email it to the OP. They will just have to trust that you won't use it or send it to someone else too.

I don't think that's true, because when you transfer, the bar-code changes and the old barcode expires. I have hard tickets that I can transfer still. I'm calling Ticketmaster to find out, I'll post what they say in case it helps anyone else.
  • I've had troubled every time I've tried. Did you possibly select an option other than Ticketfast for the original delivery? I had tickets that were "Retail Outlet" pickup. When I was unable to go to the show, I tried to transfer them and they wouldn't transfer. Even after I asked Ticketmaster to change the delivery option to Ticketfast, they transfer still didn't work. I had to call Ticketmaster back and give them the recipient's e-mail address and they did the transfer manually.

Another time, even though the transfer option was there, it wouldn't work. When I called Ticketmaster, the rep informed me transfers weren't allowed for that particular venue.

Personally, I think the system sucks almost as bad as the overblown mystery fees they charge.

I called Ticketmaster, they said the promoter for the event requested that ticket transfer be turned off, so no ticket transfers allowed. Maybe to curb ticket scalping? I dunno.

I know, but if I were on the receiving end, I would feel better if it was completely transferred to me so there's no chance of any hanky panky. But yeah, that's what I will need to do, hopefully she's Ok with it because I had posted that I could transfer (because the frigging transfer button's there, I just didn't click on it until now!!)

I have saved ticket fast tics as PDFs and printed them. Also have sent them to other people via email. That was not recently though, so might have changed.

  • Possibly, but it doesn't matter what the promoters do, the scalpers will find a way around it. Paperless tickets don't work. The scalper just walks up with the buyer, uses his credit card to get the tickets and hands them off. The old guy scanning tickets doesn't care.

The only way I've seen it work 100% is a benefit show that I went to that Kid Rock headlined. You had to enter the venue and pickup your tickets from a will call table. The name on the order had to match your ID. You weren't allowed to leave the venue, and had to proceed in line to the person scanning tickets and giving you a wristband. This was all stated online prior to tickets going onsale.

Sometimes people have to trust others, even though it's hard in the world we live in today. You post a lot here and do nice things for other ten clubbers. It's the only way to do it, so the OP will have to make do.

Aw, thanks I appreciate it :) I hope it works for her too, but we'll see. I like to be as upfront as I can when I sell something, so I'm annoyed that I didn't test out the transfer button before we made the deal.

Yeah, seems like a weak way to prevent scalping if that was the intent, but can't think of any other reason. Oh well!

Thanks everyone for the responses :)
