Simpsons/Family Guy crossover episode!

Anyone else excited for this? I'll admit I don't know a ton about the Spimpsons, but I know most of the characters and stuff so I should be ok right? Hopefully the Simpsons fans are aware of family guys crude humor, I head some people are already upset about Stewie's prank phone call to Moe's. Either way it should be a great hour of TV.

Yeah, it should be entertaining... I think the Simpsons audience is probably too soft and clean for the Family Guy material, lol. That's why a Family Guy joke about rape is causing a stir now. For a regular Family Guy episode a rape joke is perfectly normal, lol. The problem with The Simpsons now (and why I haven't watched it for several years) is that it lost touch with satire and irony. So a lot of it's current regular viewers aren't easily grasping the FG factor. That's okay though. Not like Seth gives a shit. :)

I love both shows. I don't think The Simpsons lost touch with irony. Maybe it's more the writing isn't as great as the earlier years. But it has its moments. And when you have over 500 episodes. There are going to be highs and lows.

Yeah that rape joke wouldn't even be a top 5 worst moment from an average episode of family guy. I have all the respect in the world for the Simpsons it's just not something I enjoy nearly as much as family guy.

Fair enough, but I think it fell apart. They dumbed it down over time. Now most of the time they actually explain the jokes instead of just letting the audience get it. It's like they pander to the lowest common denominator (or maybe even to children). It wasn't like that in the earlier years (still enjoy the older reruns). Just my opinion.

Family Guy though.... that show is still fantastic. :)

And Family Guy has Simpson fans as well. People who were 8-12 when The Simpsons premiered. Who then were in their early 20s for Family Guy

I'm looking forward to it. I kinda wish it was a Simpsons episode rather than a Family Guy episode though. The clips in the preview where Peter tries to get Homer to do one of his cutaway gags, the Peter vs. Homer "chicken" fight, and Peter and Homer doing a "sexy" carwash scene aren't really up my ally. I'd rather see Family Guy be "Simpsonized" than the other way around like it appears it's gonna be. But those are just small nit-picks from the episode trailer. I think it'll be very enjoyable overall.

Pretty funny. The car wash scene was hilarious. And the inside jokes about how the simpsons used to be good was decent.

  • I thought it was alright. I liked the part in the courtroom where the Family Guy characters sat with their Simpsons counterparts. Also liked Stewie kidnapping Nelson. Overall, it was a pretty good episode of Family Guy.

Just watched this on the on demand. I think the best parts were when they were talking about the shows themselves, like what was already mentioned in the courtroom & even in the bar. I don't watch either show religiously, just recently started watching Simpson's again (on FX) and I lost interest in family guy a while back. When they got the aliens in at the end I was expecting a cameo from American dad

I thought it was pretty good. I didn't feel disappointed. :) Very glad it was actually a Family Guy episode and not the other way around.

Going into it, I was the opposite. I thought it would be better as a Simpsons episode. But it worked just fine as a Family Guy episode; consisting of various "bits" and a chicken fight.

I'm a big fan of the FG. My wife, who knew nothing of the prank phone call controversy, actually chucked under her breath when Stewie delivered the line.

Amazing Chicken fight, as they all are...This episode will repeat on the adult swim 11pm Monday.
