Anyone use a soundbar?

I need new speakers. I was looking for a 2.1 setup but now I'm considering a soundbar. I have never met one though. Anyone have any experience with them or knowledge of them? It's gonna be my primary music delivery system, but I'll hook it up to the tv for movies and shit too (which I will then never use.)

I've been happy with my Sony soundbar. The only issue is that it only has an optical input, which shouldn't be a big deal, but my TV is eight years old and only has one output that delivers on optical sound output. I had to buy a third-party splitter so that I could get optical audio from my gaming systems and cable to the soundbar. So when I switch between TV inputs, I have to (gasp) get off the recliner and switch the audio input.

I was looking at a Samsung one on Amazon. I have a Samsung phone that I use to listen to music a lot so if it has the same type of sound I am sure I will be happy. Someone suggested I go to the stores and play my music through them during hours when the store is not crowded. I had no idea that was even an option. I always thought all that noise came from the TVs lol
