I recently read his autobiography, too short but very vivid anyway. The part where people he was throwing down with randomly tried to kill him, such a dark tale. Its worth a quick going over.
The man has created some great music in my opinion. I really enjoy his melodies, lyrics and vocals in general. He totally elevated STP's recent album to classic status. I love that one, there are simply great songs like Take a Load Off, the single and Maver which follows their tradition of mind blowing last songs, then decent ones like Dare if you Dare and the tune about Weiland in a liquor store on a bender, then interesting songs like Samba Nova and First Kiss on Mars, which I find contains one of Scott's most moving vocals.
Legendary moments on Purple and Tiny Music hardly need recounting, Ride the Cliche, Seven Caged Tigers, Silvergun Superman etc. for example. 4 had Glide, Pruno, Atlanta and Church on Tuesday. Shangrilla had Bi Polar Bear and Regeneration if nothing else. There are moments like No Memory / Sin on Core that were also prime.
Weilands 12 Bar Blues is his solo high point, I've even met folks who don't like STP who like it. His Christmas album is as good as anything in the genre and better if your a fan of his work.
