First of all what is a torrent? Second what is seeding? This is all new to me and I have no idea what to do. Can someone point me in the right direction so I can get a copy of this DVD and other stuff that may be out there. I may have stuff that I can share but have no idea how to do that other than burn and mail to their address.

    Thanks,
    Dan

If anyone is interested in trading for this DVD please PM me. I don't know anything about torrents and would rather just trade for a copy of it. Let me know.

    Thanks,

I'm new to all this too. Found this to be useful for terminology....

  • Hi all,

If you search these forums (sorry I've lost the link) there are several sendit sites that still host the entire show (its called "reading2006$01.asf" and its 242mb).

Also now being posted in the newsgroup "alt.binaries.mpeg.video.music" is what seems to be all of the BBC footage (main set and 1st encore), its called "UK Festivals - "Festivals 06_3 Pearl Jam (93mins 2.8GB).part001.rar"".

I hope thats helpful to some people, I've had no luck whatsoever with the torrent and I personally hate that format :-)

now where's the Reading bootleg....I neeeeed it!!! ;-)
  • I would love the encores too if anyone has them. Thanks!!

If someone could just do the encores that would be great!!!!! I have already downloaded the BBC main set torrent and cant go over my internet providers download limit by downloading it all again. Thanks everyone!!!!

  • The torrent-thing is a little bit like the "old" p2p-systems (edonkey etc.) but it's better for large files like tv-shows or pearl jam-concerts. To download you need a client like BitTorrent (maybe there are better ones that I don't know). Just google it or look at torrents.to. There are seeders and leachers, seeders are people having and distributing the whole file, leachers are people downloading and -at the same time- distributing. More seeders = download is faster...

  • To add to the last post, clients are free, and rather small files that can be installed in a matter of minutes. Here's a few to try:

    Azureus
    uTorrent
    Bitlord

I personally use bitlord, it's pretty easy and user friendly. A lot of people I know prefer Azureus and uTorrent though. Simply do a google search for them and download the one you want. Then install. When you find a torrent (like the one here), make sure it's seeded. The more seeds the better. If it doesn't have any seeders you will not be able to download the entire file. If it's seeded, click on it and if it's a public torrent (one that you don't have to be a part of a website membership for) your computer should ask if you'd like to open it or save, click open (should say "with bitlord/azureus/whateverclient").

People upload public trackers on this site, but they also can be found on other torrent sites. These sites are kind of like google, but they only search torrents.

Here's a site that will take you to a TON of torrent sites to browse through.

    http://www.btsites.tk/

When you pick a site to search, just type in what you're looking for (ie Pearl Jam) and hit search or go or whatever it says to start searching. It will give you a list of torrents that match, and tell you how many seeders (sometimes represented by only an S) and how many leechers there are.

There's more to learn as well about opening firewall ports (if you're behind a router, for example) and other bits, but the info provided here SHOULD be enough to get most people started.

For those people who are on the torrent but limiting their upload or setting it to download only, please dont..

This is about spreading the jam, if we all down and up, we all get it faster!

agreed...I'm almost done with the PAL (98%)

and in the mid 70's with the NTSC

as soon as they're done (shouldn't be too long with the PAL version as long as they're still seeding some) I'll set my upload to max.

There's only 1 seeder at the moment..........me. I'm trying to seed two dvd's at the moment. I've seeded 98.8% of the PAL dvd so most people should be at that stage. Should be more seeds sooooooooooooooooon.
Again, please seed this seed this when you finish downloading.

Hi I have the entire show from the webcast in MPEG2 format if anyone wants a copy just pm me and I will sort you out.

I would like to trade for a DVD of the BBC footage as well because it is much higher quality (I have it on my hard drive TV box but cant burn it to DVD).

It was a truly magical show...If when I see them again in Prague they are only half as good I will be one happy jammer :)

alright! we have 30 seeders on the PAL according to my client (I'm one of them)

I have a line dedicated to seeding this one!

should move a bit better now... :)

maybe you should stop seeding this one since there's 30 other seeders and stay dedicated to the NTSC? might get things moving along a little quicker so you can take a well deserved break!

86% done with the NTSC. Looks like there's two seeders on that one! I hope to join you guys sometime tonight hopefully :)

  • ok, stopped seeding PAL before I came to work. NTSC should be seeding at 50k now, but I can't check that from here, don't think there's too long to go though.

  • Here's some more artwork for the disc itself, I went ahead and made a color version for printable discs! It should go along nicely with the DVD case cover that was provided earlier!

The picture is 2.3 MB (kept it 24 bit .bmp to keep integrity over .jpeg for printing) so be aware! It's also large, so if it needs resizing you shoudn't lose the integrity of the print in that aspect either!

    download:

    http://www.sharebigfile.com/file/4882/reading.bmp.html

here's a .jpeg version (same size pixel-wise, but only 166 KB) for anyone that doesn't care as much about the quality, also works great as a preview for the other pic!:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v613/abneriel/readingjpeg.jpg

incase anyone is wondering, the lines represent the edges of the cd (they were put there automatically by the program)
