Would it be a good idea for PJ to release all future bootlegs on vinyl?

Agree with doing it by pre-order. Only press enough for the demand. I realize that's probably not feasible though logistically. However, I find that a vault every year (or every 1 year and two months as in the case of Vault 5), is not enough and would prefer a twice annually, or even quarterly release.

I think it's worth a try. I bet most would have said the same when they released all the 2000 boots on cd. Those seemed to have turned out ok. And they are still doing it.

I realize making vinyl is probably a different game. But it can be done. It's a risk. Yes. What happened to the pj that took risks anyway?

Considering there have been years without the option of CDs, I'm happy they still offer CDs in addition to the digital download choices.

okay, how bout this. The band picks a handful of shows at the end of each tour to release. Lets say the best 5.

perhaps the fans can also have input on which ones get picked. the only problem with this is that the most populated cities might always get picked.

    Yes to more vinyl!!

They should do a presale and limited press of 500 to 1000.
For the bigger shows at least.
I'd pay to much for a concert I've attended as opposed to shows I have not been to.

We payed $100 for this last one after all.

They could pick one "instant classics" show each tour and release on vinyl OR release as a members only concert Bluray.

    Great idea!

A studio recording played on a good system is where vinyl really shines. Now I do buy the Vault vinyls and PJ20 because I'm an addict but sound quality wise it makes no sense to put out bootleg series on vinyl.

A nine record boxed set of the European 2014 tour. Available in 4 different colors. $400 per set X 4 sets (Collectors would have to own them all)

Also, a "mystery" surprise in three of those sets consisting of an autographed photo of the band skateboarding. (One of those photos would appear to misspell Boom's last name as Casper) Thus it would become the new HOLY GRAIL of collectables.

Cd and download good for bootlegs. Studio worth it. Live not.

Though I'd love to own the shows I attend on vinyl, the costs would be very prohibitive. Lots of shows are hitting 3 hours now which would take 6-9 LPs. Pressing these on limited runs would be very expensive and frankly I can't see the demand being met as they'd have to charge $100 a show minimum to make it worthwhile.

The Lightning Bolt Sevens release was a limited pressing of 2000 or so. There were 6 unique 45's and the set sold for $55. I'm pretty sure the TC still turned a pretty good profit here. So, my gut tells me it can be done.

I don't think they could do it even if there was a huge demand.
The 3 hour show length that PJ seems to have adopted as the norm, at 22 minutes an LP side, works out to like 8 1/2 sides.
I like, but I don't need LPs, especially, as callen said, for live material. Properly played back Hi res FLACs sound pretty amazing, and at $20 will sound just as good if not better on that last fifty dollar vault LP release that I didn't preorder.
