Unsticking Stickies

One of the new features on the board that I am thankful for is the option to "unstick" announcements that I'm not interested in from the top of the topics list. For some reason though I am not able to do that all the time. Right now on my view of the Porch there are three "stickied" announcements - the rock n' jock thread, the Imagine thread, and the 2014 Wishlist summary thread. Of those three only the rock n' jock thread has a gear that I can click on to dismiss the announcement. The other two do not. What can I do about this? Now that the Imagine thread in particular is locked there is no reason for me to have it at the top.

Any help would be appreciated.

    why did the imagine thread get locked?
