We're flying in to Stuttgart from London next saturday morning and leaving sunday afternoon. Can anyone recommend the best way to get to Southside from the airport? Are there trains and if so will they run on sunday? Or would the best thing to do be to hire a car, I'm assuming that a taxi would be way too expensive? Any ideas/advice, especially from thos who know the area would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks....

    Hi!
Just leave the airport by train towards Stuttgart-mainstation. There take a train towards "Singen/Hohentwiel" (at least one connection available per hour) and leave at station "Tuttlingen". From the station there should be bus-transfer to the festival available. Taxi or car is way to expensive. A return-ticket to the airport should be something between 30-40 euros each person.
    Have fun!

Thanks for this - much appreciated. Do you know if the buses and trains run on sunday too?

Not sure for the busses, but i guess so. As the festival is outside the "city" of Tuttlingen (check with google-earth, watch out for that kind of airfield nearby) you might have to rely on that there are any shuttle-busses also during sunday (festival ends just sunday night/monday morning). Otherwise take a taxi to the train-station. Train schedule is more or less the same for sundays as for any other day of the week a.f.a.i.k.

You can get the connections via http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/d

There's a so-called "Baden Württemberg Ticket" which is valid for up to 5 people in whole Baden Württemberg (the area in which Stuttgart and Tuttlingen are) for one day.
Costs about 25-30€, should be the cheapest way. The only disadvantage is, that you can't use every train (no ICE highspeed trains etc..) so you might have to change the trains a few times if theres no direct connection.

Completely right. There is also the BW-ticket-single for one person which is only 18 e. Just didn't mention because i didn't want to complicate things (not vailid for all trains etc.). You can get it at a ticket machine or for some euros more at a counter of the deutsche-bahn, which doesn't fit my logic, but that's companies-politics to use machines and not human service...

Thanks for all of the info. Looks like the trains will be OK although I'm not sure the bus shuttle runs on the sunday (no mention of this on the Southside website). Anyone else travelling from the UK to this on the saturday morning?
