THE FILM

RISE is not a fly-on-the-wall style film. It is a much more personal & human story, the magnitude of which is what will make it's triumph all the more uplifting. In this film you will discover a band that, through both it's lyrical content and live energy, has bonded with it's fanbase in an incredibly unique way. Every fan around the world lives and breathes their honesty and depth and rejoices in it's euphoria & optimism.

We will follow frontman William McCarthy through California to hear his backstory, an almost unbelievable tale. McCarthy never knew his father. His mother's tragic suicide when he was 19 and subsequent suicide of his brother James whilst former band Pela was imploding should have (and nearly did) forced McCarthy and Eric Sanderson out of music altogether. Instead they resurrected an album from Pela's ashes and went on to become Augustines. Their debut album, titled 'Rise Ye Sunken Ships', was embraced around the world.

We will also travel with McCarthy to Folsom State Prison in California, the scene of the final years of his brother James' life, where he spent years in solitary confinement. We are working towards gaining entry to Folsom State Prison for Augustines to perform there as part of the film.

Folsom will be interspersed with the London show at the beginning and end of the film as we tell this unique story. This is a film ultimately about triumph. It's about a coming together of individuals for something greater but, most importantly, it's about how self-belief, never giving up and following your dreams can change lives.
