Them little red notification markers... glitchy

I have a red notification marker on the globe and the inbox icon (and obviously the word INBOX in the blue menu has a red notification marker on it too).

I click the word "INBOX" in the blue menu bar, I click on my message and the red notification marker goes away from the word INBOX and from the inbox icon by my avatar. BUT WHY DOESN'T GO AWAY FROM THE GLOBE ICON! ?
