Evacuation and Help Help are much better live than studio...I'd prefer to hear those songs over Last Kiss...especially Evacuation, theres alot of really cool musical aspects to that song. They just dont play it cuz its hard for Ed to hit those notes.

    NJPAC

    I. LOVE. YIELD.
  • help help is misunderstood. listen to the adelaide 03 version.. (on green habit) goes with all or none in the way.. ed feels like hes lost all hope.

evacuation trys to rock but its disjointed and doesnt really even fit with binaural. I can appreciate it a little because i love matt cameron songs usually. but this one does leave a stain on binaural.

Evacuation is a really great song, and i've never understood all the hate for it.

I know everyone is going to hate me for it, but i'm throwing Pilate out there. I'm not saying its the "worst" in their catalogue, as this is all purely subjective, but it's probably my least favourite track on a studio album. The chorus just makes me cringe...

does foxymop even count as a song though, haha! One of my good friends (PJ23) came up with a very interesting theory about Vitalogy actually. He thinks the reason songs like foxymop and pry to were added to the album because it would have just been to good an album without it. I don't understand how Rolling Stone that year voted it the worst album of the year. It might be my favourite album...

As for Evacuation, Ive listened to it again, and I'm sorry I just can't stand it. I would rather here 3 live versions of Even Flow in a row, lol.

I forgot about Pilate. Seriously I think I have only listened to that song all the way through maybe 3 times. I always skip it. I hate the chorus.

I agree with your friend about Vitalogy. I think they were trying to counteract the songs like Betterman and Corduroy.

Did Rolling Stone really vote it one of the worst albums? I thought they gave it a good review when it came out.

I hate Shania, therefore I HATE Unemployable... I wish they would have ripped off a Neil Young song instead!

  • All of Matt Cameron's songs rule. All of the Evacuation and Unemployable haters can go eat a bag of dicks.
  • Even if Evacuation is the worst song they have done, and I'm not saying that it is (I actually like it), it's still better than 80% of the crap that's out there.
  • nuffingmannuffingman Posts: 3,014
Evacuation isn't the best but Green Disease sucks the mostest.
  • First of all how can anyone who listens to it not get the fuss about Sad? It's one of their finest songs. End of.

All things being equal, I'd say Evacuation is the worst. Take Last Kiss for example, I'd bet that 98% of the LK haters actually did enjoy it at one point. I seriously would doubt that of Evacuation. Sweet Lew shouldn't really count becaus eobviously it was just playing around and it has never and will never take up a spot on a setlist. However, I will say I enjoy the original version a lot more and that it has a pretty sweet bass-line.
