Anyone have a good live version of the original 'In my tree' prior to when they changed the song in '03. Looking for one that starts with the drums and includes the lyric "the sky i scrape". I had one from Columbus '00 but I can;t find the cd anywhere.

I'm usually a big jack fan, but I have to say, the 2000 versions are mindblowing.

I think the Jack versions are better than the Matt versions when the original drumming is used. MGS 03 however, with the new style....good god is that sick. Now *that* is mind blowing.

I've been listening to Kitchener today (of course) and I will always love that version a little bit more than everything else.

"I might just be because I'm drunk, but this really feels like a small place here tonight" and then they started In My Tree. Aaaaaaaah.

    Hopefully many more to come...
  • Yea, I don't think there is a way to top the studio version of In My Tree, along with most other songs on No Code.

When they nail it, I absolutely love the new version. When it's sloppy, I could do without it.

Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

  • I really like the slow version...on the f4kin-up-fansite is a 2003 rarities compilation where the songs are not dated and there is a awesome version of it...I guess it to be the first slow version...they're improvising on the slow verse-chords, Eddie changes the lyrics... "still growing...still loving...still avoiding...dieing..." "when the crow flies..." and some other phrases...they are only playing the verse harmonies and stop after about 2 minutes or so... does anyone know the date and if it's the first slow version?

Concerning Berlin 96...he fucks up the lyrics and seems to be pretty angry on himself...that's why I like this version too...

...but I LOVE the version from Melbourne 3/98 (March 5th)...

  • The slow version is Fargo 03...its awesome.

I am the biggest In My Tree fan and have heard tons of versions of it. The best ones are Melbourne 98 (Ed gives a bit of a tribute to the INXS singer that died by singing "I hold my breath deep within my chest and give it to INXS"), Philly 2005, Portland 1998, and MSG 2003. Charleston 1996 is good too.

  • I like the new version, but I miss that amazing drumming of the original 'In My Tree'.
    My vote: Pittsburgh 09/05/2000 version.
