Is it wrong to not wanna hear Even FLow anymore live..or at least not as much? I know it's the band time to shine during this tune, but they rip Porch instrumentally all the time and personally, I'd rather hear pretty much any song except Evacuation in its place.

  • I'd much rather hear "Evacuation" than "Even Flow."

But I agree, it needs to be given more sporadic play, and slowed down. It's an excuse for Mike to rock and Ed to take a break, and there are plenty of other tunes that could serve that purpose.

If they played EF the old way - I'd love it.

Since they don't, I don't love it anymore live.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

  • They play it that often because it gives Ed the chance to light a cigarette during the solo parts...;)

look i don't mind it when i'm there, but listening to it on boots does get a bit much. Having said that i do understand why they do play it heaps, because not eveyone who goes to a pj concert is a die hard fan. I went last yr twice with guys who only know the hits, they enjoyed the concert because they played alive, daughter etc. and to the person who says they skip yellow ledbetter i love it. I love listening to it, Mikeat the start at then end, and eddie changes the lyrics everytime, I fkn love it, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is mine

Its ok to not wanna hear even flow, but the song serves a very important purpose. It is one of those songs that non-fans will take away with them after the concert and eventually, they look up Ten or Rearviewmirror greatest hits, and from there turn into fans and everybody wins:-)

the band normally understands where they are playing...when they feel like in an "all die hard fans" venue alla benaroya or the vic, they dont play evenflow...but in a regular show there´s just a bunch of freak fans as we are, so it would be too unfair to the non-fans not to play their greatest hits...just think of yourself while seeing some other bands that you like but you are not die hard fan...I mean...if I go to see the peppers and they dont play Give it Away...i´d say "fuck it"....you know what i mean?

Exactly. They won't stop playing it until Ed goes on the patch.
I smile, but who am I kidding...
  • There are plenty of other songs that fans will know besides "Even Flow." On a night when "Even Flow" is absent, they could just make sure to work in "Daughter" and "Jeremy."
  • I love it, and it's a blast when they play it live. That said, i was quite happy not to hear it at 3 out of the 4 shows i saw this year. It was a break i needed. But then when they kicked into it in Nijmegen, i went nuts!
"This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them."

  • I was sick of it, until the Rearviewmirror version came out. That gave the song a whole new lease on life for me.

Now i don't mind it at all. This is the funny thing though, being a drummer myself, the drum solo annoys the hell out of me.

I only heard it at lolla this year... 1 out of 4 shows also... when they started into it, I almost didn't know what it was ;)

but I agree with those who said for a non fan it may just be the highlight. I still fucking love it when they play it... but it's nice to get a break from it also.
