Can't even imagine how you & your family feel, Dan - Haven't the words to express how sorry I am for you -
But do know this... We don't have to wait for Joey to "Come Back" - He is already here, inside all of us who read this thread, & is forever a star on the internet, with a touching tribute by none other than Eddie Vedder ~

Hope you get Long Road next week
Wasn't looking too good but I was feeling real well...

They better play Long Road when you are actually there.

I would gladly break my streak of 8 shows and 8 different openers to hear them play Long Road again for your son when I'm there this Sunday. Words cant express!! Such a great band for doing this last night and lets hope they do it again!

One month ago today on June 19, my son, Joey, passed away unexpectedly at age 13 due to complications from surgery he had on June 10.

My little force of nature had a beautiful smile, warm heart, irresistible laugh and sweet personality. Music played such an integral part of Joey’s life and my connection with him. He had taken up the drums in the past year and we attended a number of concerts together. Unfortunately, we never had a chance to see my favorite band, Pearl Jam, together.

In order to have something to look forward to, I am flying from Los Angeles to attend the Austin City Limits show on Sunday, Oct. 12.

If possible, I would greatly appreciate it if you would play "Long Road" and dedicate it to Joey on that date.

    Thanks for your consideration.

    Sincerely,

    Dan Thomasimage

    The shows coming up bump..

Wow -- I hope that the dedication brought you some joy in a time of sorrow. Great job Ed and the band. We all walk the Long Road, I only wish that road was longer for your son.

I have wanted to post a comment here for so long but I have not been able to find the words. Our son is 5 months old and I just cannot imagine what you are going through.

I'm so happy that they played Long Road and Ed made the dedication, even if it was a week early. As loix71 said earlier, hopefully this was just a rehearsal and you get a Long Road this weekend that you will always be able to treasure.

It's time like this that it hits home how great this place can be. Dozens of people posting messages of support for a fellow fan, and the news gets back to the band and they reach out... It really makes you feel part of something special.

I've got everything crossed for you that they play Long Road again this week - it was such a touching tribute that Ed did for Joey.

It was very touching when Vedder spoke of your son.

Bump for this weekend and sorry for your loss as I don't have the words...
