Of all their albums Yield is my favourite sounding in terms of production - something I hope they'll return to at some point.

This thread made me realise that I only listen to the albums until the songs appear on the official bootlegs. I now started to listen to the studio albums in the order they were released and it's fascinating how some of the songs evolved over the years they have been played live. And how listening to the albums transports me back to when and where I first listened to them.

That's so true. It's nice to relisten to the studio albums too to compare your own reaction now to when they were first released. Last year in the 10 days leading up to the lightning bolt release I listened to all of the studio albums in order 1 per day and ending with lightning bolt on release day. It was a fun journey for so many reasons.

    That's a great idea actually!

When I came to Binaural I really had the feeling I was back at my desk at my old job working for a record company that definitely did NOT release PJ albums *g* We never used headphones; if the three of us sharing the office listened to different things at the same time, we had to use selective hearing, so everyone coming in got an earful. Good times :D

After listening to so many bootleg discs and live concerts via PJ Radio, listening to the studio version of Yield makes me appreciate it even more. The production is very tight and the overall sound is so melodic that it reminded me of Beatles music at times. I think Yield could be classified as a "Masterpiece".

15 years?! I can't imagine that. 15 weeks would be a stretch for me. Such a great, great album!

I just played this album for a musician friend and told him the story, first licks off of Brain of J and he's like " dude, yield, haven't listened to this in years"…

He went back a few years too…
