24X36 Portfolio from Jerry's Artarama

dfishbergdfishberg Posts: 403
Overall, Im pretty happy with this portfolio for storing my posters, but has anyone else had issues fitting their 12X36 or 24X36 prints into the sheets? The tops of the posters seem to stick out (in particular, the Rhys Cooper 12X 36 prints). I would have thought that there would be a little cushion to fit these prints into the portfolio. Any suggestions?

The 36" prints don't fit - I bought a few of these (30" x 40") and store the large prints in them:

Shouldn't a 36'' poster fit in a 24X36 folio? UGH! Thx for the link -- do the 30X40 sheets have a folio as well or do you just keep them individually?

I even find with my 18x24 that the prints stick out just a bit on the top.

It's just a giant individual protector - I fit 2 of the 12x36ish prints in each side, so I don't waste too much space. This stuff gets expensive!

Ya I've had the same issue. I had a 24x36 Daniel Danger that had some overhang. Kind of frustrating but once it was zipped up (very carefully) I assumed it was still protected enough. Haven't had issue outside of that one.

Thanks as well lotsalemon for the link, that would be a good way store my oversize Horkeys. This is good but also opens a whole can of worms.

Thanks for the link! Funny how the poster is probably the least expensive thing out of everything!

Yeah I had a few in there only for a hot minute and none that were really valuable. I keep all my stuff in a bigass flat file now... Don't risk stuffing them in with no room to breath.

  • Can someone tell me how many protective sheets fit in a portfolio? They sell the sheets in packs of 5, but I'd think more than 25 sheets would be a problem.

I think they say you can fit 40 sheets in each portfolio. I need to buy a third portfolio as I have 50+ in each right now! They weigh so much I can hardly lift them!

I am looking for the sleeves cheap, any help?
  • nadahombrenadahombre Brooklyn Posts: 458
Ive been able to fit the 36 inch long Ken Taylor and Rhys Cooper into the 24x36 sleeves but its a snug fit, and whenever I re-close the folio I always double check these prints haven't slipped. As for the quality of the case I haven't been super impressed. One of the metal loops holding the zipper pulls broke after maybe 5 times opening but contacting Jerry's about this got me a $35 refund so they were good about it. Such an expensive item, case and sleeves, its a shame there isn't more competition

I have about 40 posters..... any idea on how I could do something like a portfolio without spending hundreds of dollars? Any suggestions appreciated.

I bought a Big Archive Box, that was super cheap, then got some 24 x 36 sleeves. Much cheaper than the portfolios.
Something like this but can't remember the specific one I have.

I basically built a box that can slip under my bed. I spent like $70 and bought acid free rolls of paper from uline. I lay them and put sheets between each and it works great for long time storage. I really would like to pull them out and show them occasionally. My son is 9, daughter 5 (also a 1 month old named Stone, lol) and they both love pearl jam. They don't exactly have the greatest long term memories so I get a number of posters showing up, like from the last couple months of touring and suddenly then need to see every poster I have again. Which is cool but a lot of work.

Was it the zipper zipper or just the pull? Both of my pulls have broken but they both can go back on and still work with a little gentle magic....At some point I could fashion something more permanent either bending the loop of the pull or using a zip-tie or something...Either way the main point of the portfolio is to keep the prints flat and it does that well, the zipper is secondary at best.

    Is $149 a good price for one of the 24 x 36 portfolio's from Jerry's?
Do they ever get cheaper than that?
