Question for Kat and other mods

I've noticed that every single thread related to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict has been closed. One of which, the only instance of name-calling was immediately criticized, the offensive post was edited, and valid discussion was ongoing. Is it a waste of time for us to start a new thread and continue? In other words, is this topic now off limits, or may we proceed? I've learnt plenty and would like to continue to do so.

Just wanted to chime in that while I haven't necessarily posted on those threads, I too have been learning some from most of the participants.
We have some well-informed and well-spoken folks here - not necessarily limited to that subject - and I hope the dialogues can continue.

And this one is still open:

It's not the subject matter that gets threads closed, it's not following posting guidelines that kills threads.

That is so not true, benjs.
Thank you, Brian, your last comment is exactly right. If everyone maintains their cool and discusses respectfully and reasonably, a thread likely won't even come to our attention but if people cross lines and don't follow the Posting Guidelines, it may be closed because it depends on how much time we have to deal with it. Sometimes there are duplicate topics too and that will decide the situation. We don't need multiple threads on the same topic. This topic is important, the sharing of ideas is important, but the problem will not be solved here and our interest is in Pearl Jam fans NOT savaging each other. Also, being respectful to the band, our hosts, is of prime importance.
And in the future, please contact me in PM with a mod question instead of putting my name in the subject line, thanks. This thread is done.
