Transport from London to Milton Keynes

Got PJ tix for MK and decided to make a vacation around this so am in London for the week with my wife.
As far as I can tell there are two ways to get to MK via transportation not involving a private car.
1) National rail train from Euston Station to MK Central then walk from train station to national bowl - this appears to be about a 35-40 min train ride and then a 30 min walk or so.
- Advantages - I can go anytime I want so I could go up later and get there around 4 pm, don't care about being on the rail, my wife is about 5' tall so she can get lost in a GA crowd... ;)
- Disadvantages - large crowds waiting for a train after the show, long walk to and from trains

2) Big green coach - can take the bus direct to MK and then direct back, about 30 pounds per person
- Advantages - direct to the gate and back
- Disadvantages - subject to traffic getting out of show, leaves around noon so we'll be there very early sitting around before any action at the show and many many hours before BRMC or PJ start to play.

Any thoughts form any locals on these modes? Preferences? Did I miss an option that would be better?

I've got no experience with either so if anyone has made the walk from MK to the national bowl any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
JB

I'm in the same situation. We'll spend our weekend in London, too. We'll take the train. It's much cheaper and comfortable, too.
I don't think that the crowd will be a big issue.
btw - if you take the train, you don't need to rush to catch the train. The railways will be operating additional late night services from Milton Keynes Central to London Euston. Services will operate until Midnight. Concert will end @22:30

FWIW here is the info from The National Bowl website:

    RAIL
Nearest rail: Milton Keynes Central. The railways will be operating additional late night services from Milton Keynes Central to London Euston. Services will operate until Midnight. Additional trains will be stopping at Milton Keynes Central Station for the outward journey from London.

For the most up-to-date train service information you should call the national timetable enquiries line: 0845 748 4950 or train operators Silverlink: 0870 512 5240 or Virgin: 0845 722 2333.

From Milton Keynes central railway station exit right and follow signage for the event which is a 25-30 minute (just over one mile) signposted walk to the Bowl. Please bear in mind your return journey to the rail station may take longer due to the number of concertgoers exiting the venue at the same time. Patrons using rail transport are reminded that it is their responsibility to allow enough time to make the necessary rail connections when leaving the venue. Due to other events taking place on the same weekend it is also advisable to allow plenty of time for your outward journey from London.
