So I wait in line for about an hour in the rain to get my ten club tickets for the first MSG show tonight. The line is organized like a cattle shoot but whatever it seemed to get people through for tickets at a reasonable rate. So our line is released and I roll up to the window and the gentlemen hands me my tickets and I sign the envelope hand shaking. I look them over and say to myself....hmmmm Section 2....Row B.....Seat 2.....hm.......... My heart immediately starts racing and I rush over to the seating chart and low and behold DEAD CENTER SECOND ROW!!!! So I run out and find my best friend and we go ape shi$ Not two seconds later a gentlemen approaches us and asks what seats we got so we we tell him. He offers us $4,000 cold hard cash for the tickets and shows us the cash.......I can hardly comprehend what's going on. I look at my buddy, pause for a second to comprehend.....then crack the biggest smile........turn to the gentlemen and say....."I can't do it."

I'v been a die hard PJ fan from the beginning, this experience is "priceless" to me and I wouldn't pass it up for anything.

I'd just like to say "Thank You" to the Ten Club for this once in a lifetime experience. The show starts in 3 hours so I gotta get runnin!!

Holy shit! It would have been hard to turn down 4 grand in cash, but I probably would have done the exact same thing..

I would've taken the cash and gone to another show. Those stupid student loans make me greedy and that 4K would be very helpful.

I got an offer as I was leaving the ticket window, too. But mine was for a measly $1900. Not even tempted.

Nice job not giving in. This is like when Charlie got the golden ticket and that scary dude was there immediately and wanted to tempt him into stealing an everlasting gobstopper.

For those of you saying you'd have taken the cash... aside from the bad PJ karma that would probably follow you forever after that, keep this in mind:

The kind of guy who approaches you and shows you $4000 in hard cash for great tickets makes his living on the street hustling people. I GUARANTEE YOU that if you'd said yes and traded the tix for the cash... when you walked away and counted what you had, it would be nowhere near $4000. Even if he counted it out in front of you, what you got handed would be way less.

It's a huge mistake to think you can get a fair deal from super professional scalpers. And it's a huge risk to take. You could easily end up out all the cash AND your 2nd row center seats.

After having been front row for several shows (not Pearl Jam), I'm sorry, there's no way I would take that money! I was front row (GA) for Foos, dead centre (On the corner of where the caltwalk meets the main stage, if you know what I'm talkin about). After i got the spot, if someone offered me money to give it up.. HELL no!

    Good job man!

Here's the thing. If I hit the lottery, I think it may be my only chance to ever be that close. Is that worth $4,000? Ah, no. Throw in the risk of getting caught, and the fact that you are supporting people who were likely behind the scam to rip off people a few days ago, and it's just not good.

Good for you, man. Good for you.

I was recently offered $3,000 for tickets to Game 5 of the NBA Finals at the Staples Center. I laughed at the fucker and told him that I wouldn't sell him my seats for $10,000, much less $3,000.

Whenever I am "tempted" to do something like this, I always ask myself: 5 years from now, will I even remember what I did with the money? Probably not. For the most part, it would go to paying off bills and/or buying things that I wouldn't much remember down the line.

But the memory of attending an event can last forever. 5 years from now I guarantee you that you will remember and treasure being 2nd row as MSG for Pearl Jam.

Just like 5 years from now I will remember and treasure watching the Lakers beat the Celtics in the only NBA Finals game I may ever be able to attend, and walking away from it with some awesome pictures, a lost voice, and 2 free tacos. :)
