I would think white privileged would be no arrest and no charges, but refused to prosecute because you’re white. Not what I see happening here.

The incident happened in February. Reverse the races of the four involved. You think three black guys would be walking free into May had they shot to death a white, unarmed jogger? In Georgia?

Given that courts and much of the judicial system has been shut down for almost 2 months, maybe.

Glynn County, GA courts remain open for essential functions like arrest warrants, first appearances and child support hearings despite the state Supreme Court justice declaring a state of emergency on March 16th, essentially leaving the decision to close, remain open or open with limitations to the individual county judge and the governor declaring a Stay at Home order on April 3rd.

If holding a dangerousness hearing after shooting an unarmed jogger in broad daylight is not an “essential function,” then maybe it’s “White privilege?”

And the courts were not “shut down” for two months. Again, reverse the race of those involved and would you still believe the black guys would have still been walking around? In May? In Georgia? For shooting to death an unarmed white guy in broad daylight in his own neighborhood?

Maybe it was only white privilege from February 23rd to March 16th?

And I’ll add, those concealed carry, stand your ground proponents would argue that if the BLACK victim had just pulled a gun out of his jogging shorts and killed the two WHITE accosters, he’d be within his rights.

I'm not defending him.  just asked what’s white privilege about white guys going through a grand jury that is required. IT was the end of February so a little over 2 months. Under normal circumstances 2 months doesn’t seem like a long time. Put it in the middle of a pandemic I’m not sure what else to expect.
I didn’t defend them. They look guilty to me. There’s a trial pending, a jury will decide if they are or not. I just asked where’s the white privileged in that?

You can ask, and I won’t make random accusations for asking someone to explain their view.
 Like many states, Georgia requires a grand jury. Given the facts of the case where the individuals claim they thought he was breaking into a house, attempted a citizens arrest and then he attacked them does warrant an investigation. I believe they came to the correct decision in moving forward to a grand jury, they look guilty. But they needed to investigate the possibility of their story first.
2 months doesn’t seem like an unreasonable amount of time, especially being in the middle of a pandemic. I believe there wasn’t video until a few days ago. Investigations are going to take some time. What’s the other option if the races were reversed? Skip the whole investigation and just lock them up?

I couldn’t find a lot. It seems like it was a very small story until the video was released a few days ago. I haven’t been able to find out how it was released, but it doesn’t sound like police or investigators had seen it.
Here is what I have read though. The perp is a former cop who worked with the DA. The first 2 DAs declined the case because they knew him. The third picked it up and said it will go to grand jury.
The dude looks guilty. His defense was there had been a string of burglaries, he saw the victim looking through a window and thought he matched the description of the burglar. They chased him down to perform a citizens arrest. The victim violently attacked his son when confronted and he shot in self defense.
Thats his story, but right now I don’t believe it. But given the pandemic, 3 DAs and a story plausible enough to warrant an investigation, I see nothing wrong here. The dude is going in front of a grand jury. The first 2 DAs should relieve themselves from the case, and did not just dismiss charges but passed it on to someone impartial. This all takes time and makes sense.

They murdered a man in broad daylight.  They should be in jail awaiting trial or a bond hearing.

I agree they appear to be guilty. But keep in mind until just a couple days ago they only had the shooters’ side of the story. Which was they thought he was breaking into a building, he matched the description of a burglar, they saw him the other night and appeared to have been armed. So they chased him attempting to make a citizens arrest. When they confronted him he violently attacked the son.
That doesn’t mean they blindly accept the story. But they look for physical evidence that supports or disputes it. They talk to witnesses, see if he was actually trying to break into a building, etc. All that takes time under normal circumstances. Among court shutdowns (and many are shut down in Georgia) and all else that’s going on it will take even longer. 

Almost immediately after the video was posted they stated they will seek a grand jury. 

Looks like we’ll just have to disagree, but all that seems standard to me.

That should have happened months ago, the bond hearing.

I think this is probably the biggest difference if you reverse the races...justice might be moving at the same pace, but the "alleged" perps would be waiting for it in jail.
