What a fucking sick tragedy. Curious to see which adult was the legal owner who failed to secure their damn firearm.oftenreading said:Which responsible owner allowed this kid to get his hands on the gun that he used to kill his whole family?

They referred to “clip.” And they sell guns and ammo. Guess they have no business doing so?

I can see the NRA’s “for immediate release” fund raising email blast now, “Don’t let those homosexual, liberal elites with their sinner ways take your guns and god given rights away! Donate $3, $5, $25, $100 or $10,000 rubles now! Stop the sickos!”Bentleyspop said:

Bentleyspop said:My immediate gut reaction was, WOW! Right on!But then I mentioned the story to my wife, arguable a more rational person than I am at times, who pointed out that this will only serve to alienate the opposing sides, do little to change the NRA's policies (and, in fact, probably lead them to dig in their heels further), and cause a general guffawing at San Francisco yet again for being a bunch of weirdos. So if she is right, that gets us no closer to a sensible resolution. What a mess."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

I think buying guns with the intent to resell them is illegal. now I don’t know how to prove intent when the guy can just claim he changed his mind, but in theory I believe that example would be illegal. I suppose if it was a large amount of guns, and not just 1 or 2, it would be easier to prove.CM189191 said:0

Can't do this in my state. We got rid of private transfers with no documentation or background check. Every private sale/transfer goes through an FFL just like a new firearm purchase does, with the standard forms and background check. It effectively closed the gun show loophole. Not sure why the loophole is allowed to exist. Documenting private sales doesn't take away anyone's rights. It just puts the standard protections on everyone. There's no reason to oppose it except by people who are interested in providing weapons to those who shouldn't have them.mace1229 said:

I agree. I actually didn’t even know what the gun-show Loop hole was until I moved out of California a few years ago. Buying a used firearm from a private party can be more expensive than buying a new gun with all the extra required paperwork. Which, honestly, if we wanted less guns shouldn’t we make it easier to buy a used one? Can still require the background check and paperwork.jeffbr said:

Federally, it's illegal to buy or and sell without registering if it's your principle source of income. Unfortunately the law is so vague that "collectors" are basically in the loophole.mace1229 said:
