Why would anyone buy tickets to a Morrissey concert?

lolobugglolobugg Posts: 8,192
full disclosure- i think he sucks but
I saw where he just cancelled his Atlanta concert the day of the show.
Claiming another illness. I know that he has cancelled and rescheduled at least three times in my city and finally just cancelled the show all together
This guy is either the most unhealthy man on the planet or he just doesn't give a f*ck about his fans.

i doubt anyone cares on the PJ boards but it does make me appreciate what the band does for us.

Because he is excellent live and puts on a great show. No need to insult his fans, but I do agree he needs to come clean about whatever medical issues he's having or stop scheduling shows because it's letting people down. He cancelled on me once, but the rescheduled show was absolutely worth it.

Jamburger, that is my favorite Morrissey song as well:)

No insult intended toward his fans, i was just posing the question (and taking a shot at him of course) if anything i am commiserating with all the fans that he screwed over. I have friends who love him. PJ cancelled on me my first time i was going to see them. it was disappointing but i understood. now if they had cancelled on me three seperate times i would not be here typing this right now.
    As for Morrissey...
I was just blown away that after he cancelled twice that the third show still sold out. and his excuses sounded flimsy to me. I mean i guess his fans are super dedicated.
Glad you had fun at the show.

I would buy tix just because he apparently puts on a great show. Never had the chance to see him. I compare it to GNT (who I am not a fan of) you take a risk making plans around it.

I don't get the thread. Do you not get that people who don't think he sucks may want tickets to see him? I know hes cancelled a bunch of shows in the past 2 years, but he's also played a bunch too. Also hes had a couple of decades playing solo tours. So its not like this guy is batting .100 here.

The thread should be titled "Morrissey: I think he sucks" because that is really what you wanted to post. The thread title is a misleading troll job.

Yeah, that was dumb, but the guys music is freaking great. I guess I can just separate that. He says some stupid stupid stuff, but I don't buy his records because he is a class-act, I buy them because they are great.

  • Because he is excellent live and puts on a great show. No need to insult his fans, but I do agree he needs to come clean about whatever medical issues he's having or stop scheduling shows because it's letting people down. He cancelled on me once, but the rescheduled show was absolutely worth it.

Yeah, Morrissey is certainly a drama queen, but that's what's awesome about him. He's so over the top it's almost insane. It's entertaining as hell. Also, he writes some great tunes. And I'm not even a super fan. I don't think his last few solo albums have been good at all. And I've never seen him live.

What Tim said is true, he's over the top. I think that's one of the things that his fans love about him. I'm a meat eater, yet I don't let his comments get to me. He is very passionate about his veganism. And yes, he cancels a lot of shows, but I think it's obvious he is having some sort of health problems. The man has written some of the best songs in pop music in my opinion, so his eccentricities can take a back seat to his performances, which are top notch. I do prefer his Smiths years and early solo years up to Vauxhall and I, but if you're just a casual fan it's worth the theatrics for a legendary show.

I think he stopped a show after a couple of songs in Berlin last year or so because somebody was eating a bratwurst at the show. These people pay lots of money to see him and then he is being such a douche. I'm not into him or any of his music, but I think this is totally unprofessional.

Not much of a fan of his solo stuff but I love, love The Smiths. Wish I could have seen them back in the day. I didn't realize he had been canceling shows. Yeah if he has health problems then he should take some time off to get it under control.

Like(wouldn't say "love") the music(Morrissey solo & The Smiths). Saw him live here a couple of years ago & it was FAB! It was great to check him off my list(figuratively) of artists who's work I like & respect & want to see live.

Yep, unfortunate if his cancelling of shows is a frequent occurrence & perhaps he needs to review his attitude around that but didn't happen down here so I'm not interested in saying anything more about that.

I would say people buy tickets to see Morrissey in the hope they'll get to do just that, see him play the music they like.
