    After the noon.

We're off to see the hotel wedding venue tonight... although we highly doubt we're going to use it... We want the medieval place we visited on Saturday. So much so that i've decided to take a second job to help pay for it all   :?

    medieval place? sounds awesomes!!
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

If I took a second job I'd end up with less money than I have now cos the taxman would take it all *shakes fist*

I had a lovely daydream about winning the lotto as I wandered into work this morning :(

  • Afternoon.

The medieval place is looking less and less likely... The costs are astounding and the staff are 'unprofessional' to say the least. I called this morning to reserve a date and talk costs and the guy was really abrupt and said there was 'absolutely no negotiation' on prices. They just have a 'we get enough brides and grooms who are willing to pay full price so we don't need your business' attitude  Also there's no accomodation, no parking, it's in the centre of Coventry (on a Saturday night? Not advisable...) and the local hotels are a 10 min walk away and are generally shite.

Dave's step mum has MS so we have to be sensitive to that and try to find a place that has accomodation where she can rest up if she needs to... also so that people who are coming from afar and don't know the area or don't drive, don't have to travel from ceremony to reception.

It's a HUGE headache but we're slowly whittling out the venues that either don't meet our requirements or are poo. Helen's calling me this evening to give much needed advice :mrgreen:

We're hoping to go and look at this soon:

    http://www.lordleycester.com/

and we have an appointment on Saturday morning for here:

    http://www.britanniahotels.com/hotels/c ... oyal-court

I have no problem getting a second job for a year. Saves us having to put everything on credit cards or getting loans which appears to be the norm for wedding payment now-a-days

Besides, working non-stop might help me shed some lbs... as jrd so lovingly pointed out I need to lose a few

    ;)
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

If they're that snobby now, I hate to imagine what stress they'll cause on the day. It's well for them to have a load of custom anywho, let them have at it.

The way it mostly works here is that you'd get a hotel in which you'd block-book rooms in at a discounted rate for the night of the wedding.

Poo for the guildhall people. If they are like that now, think of all the hassles you will have to the run up of the day and during the day. The venue is splendid but if the staff can't be pleasant......

That hospital one looks really nice! I'm sure there must be lots of hotels near by that would be suitable to stay!

Or, while you're looking at Warwick, Warwick Castle do weddings!!! Think of stunning photos there.... Oh! Could get Dylan to do your wedding photos!!!!

That was my thinking with the Guildhall... bollocks to them.

Warwick castle's weddings are extremely expensive... We've looked :(

There are lots of hotels near the hospital one... only problem is, we think it only holds 90 people max... 30 less than we need it for :?

Ah well, don't know unless we talk to them :D

I figured the castle would be very expensive.

Seats 90 instead of 120? No problem. Don't really count little kids and squeeze a couple of extra tables in. If 15 people have someone seating on their laps, you're cool..... 8-)

should be potentially fairly straightforward, especially if one has an Apple, though Windows should be able to do it given the right software.

what are you up to now...?
