Hi everyone!
Jenny.. way too much to lose with possible new job. I would stick with current job. I'm sure boss man will understand.
Al.. way to go! A job next to home.
Today I've had a 'shop experience' day. Had to work in one of our bakeries. Bloody hard work - I'm knackered. On my feet rushing about serving customers, etc. for 7 solid hours - don't know how these ladies and gents do it every day.0 -
Irish Al wrote:Jen thats wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much to lose out on, I think hells is right ( ) explain to them that you really want the job but that you actually can't afford to lose the money...due to bills etc.
Hope it all works out, and don't forget you got a trip to the US to pay for
Hells I'm flying with delta on Monday mornin and then back on thurs evenin.
Talking of new jobs, I got offered a new job with my organisation, in my home townProbably be the same money but I'll be saving about €250 a month on travel, 10mins from home to work and save about €500 every 6 months on the car
Well, I was just talkin to the boss man. Told him I just couldn't afford to be down that much money right now, otherwise I would have loved to have taken the job. *hopes I made the right choice* But its just ridiculous to lose that much for a career I don't even know I want yet! What I do want is to ramble around the world, and thats what I'm gonna do
And well done on the closer to home business0 -

Helen - I actually had a good time, strangely enough. Time flew by. Even saw a few people I knew coming in the shop (I had to explain what I was doing there!).
Cool Jenny... keep on earning loads so you can travel the world in search of music! A career can be for later0 -

I used to do bar work... was really hard work on busy nights but they were the most rewarding and I really really enjoyed it. I'd imagine the bakery would be similar for you... nice sociable jobThe Astoria??? Orgazmic!

what have I missed?!
I was supposed to have a day off today but it magically turned into a night shift. ah well, I shall think about the money.(AND the fact that I can listen to Zeppelin all night long! it sounds amazing in the store with all the speakers all around!
)

Heineken Helen wrote:Awww... is that the bakery beside the train? Where we bought the yummy cakes?
Nope... bakery in Twickenham. A Greggs bakery because that is the company I work for. Next will be a night shift in the Bakery ('factory') and a delivery run with one of the drivers. I think I will pass on the latter. They drive like madmen.0 -

can't YOU insist on doing the driving? Cmon... I can't imagine you sitting there biting your tongue while they drive mentally.

Ha! Me driving a lorry - I shut my eyes at roundabouts! That's why I don't think I'll do the delivery run. I would go crazy and be a very bad passenger.0

Last few weeks have been a head melt - hope its all worth it!0 -

I have to admit Rita but when myself and the mrs were in Edinburgh we were nearly sick everytime we calked past a greggs, we both hated the "food" when we were living in the UK, so bloody greasy, jesus even thinking about it makes me feel like vomiting....but I love youI need a coffee!0 -

so where are folks staying in NY ?
been looking at the various flight and hotel options and come to the conclusion that some sort of package deal for the two is what we're going to end up doing... will end up spending an arm and both legs in the end but the we've never been to NY before and as the missus is letting me see Pearl Jam i suppose i'd better treat her right!
so... is the midtown Manhattan area (Times Square sort of area) a good place to stay ? there seem to be lots of hotels there, it's close to MSG and also close to alot of touristy things...
any experts out there got any advice ?
good news on the job, Al, wish i could get a job closer to home, would save loads of money and time not having to commute... :(Oh yeah? Well, I've had about enough of morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells - and you chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you - you've had enough of me?0 -
jrd wrote:would save loads of money and time not having to commute... :(
I used to commute to central london - hated it in the end. What was worse was when I was on a project near liverpool street station - crap place to travel to from where I live.
Now my job is in Twickenham. I can cycle there in 10 minutes, walk there in about 25/30 mins - but all this only when the weather is nice obviously! The bus only takes 5 minutes0 -
