Foo Fighters Live

I just the last 5 minutes or so of the Foo Fighters playing Wembly Stadium on Palladia.

I have seen them live twice, first at the 2012 Midtown Music Festival in ATL, then the following weekend (lol yea that happened) in Central Park at the Global Citizen Festival. I was never really that into them, couple of songs I really liked but just generally never got really into them. The crowd in the footage from Wembly was pretty great though. I know a lot of people think they're overrated and too much of a 'pop' band but ... I like pop bands. so.

Anyone have any live experiences they wanna share? From Foo concerts? I signed up on their website so hopefully they're gonna do a tour next year.

Foo Fighters are one of my favorite bands to see live. They always deliver, whether it's a small club or huge arena.
I've seen them seven times. A couple of my favorite times were when they did a series of secret shows around L.A. in February of 2011, in advance of Wasting Light coming out. They'd drop hints on twitter throughout the day, before a final reveal at around 5pm of the show details and venue. Then it was a mad dash to the venue to get a wristband for $20. At the first show, they take the stage and Dave says, "So...you wanna hear the new record?" Then they proceeded to play Wasting Light in its entirety (two months before its release), continuing on after that with another 18-20 songs. I got into two of the four or five they did (Dragonfly, Troubadour) and both were really memorable. The Troubadour show was the last of that run and they played 32 songs, one of their longest shows ever (3+ hours). Cool experiences all around as the venue were small enough that I got to meet Pat, Taylor, and Chris at the Dragonfly. Got a setlist after that show that I still have framed up and caught one of Taylor's drumsticks from the long Troubadour show.
Their arena shows are amazing too. On the flip side of the rock shows, I absolutely loved the acoustic shows they did in 2006 (recorded for Skin & Bones DVD/album).
After seeing that they did a similar pop up show at Preservation Hall in New Orleans recently, hoping they'll do more as the new album gets closer. Seems like an interesting concept recording in different cities with different musicians, letting the locale influence the music. Will be interesting to see how they tour it.

Seen them twice. First at Manchester Apollo on the Nothing Left To Lose tour. Amazing show! Dave dived into the crowd to stop a fight. Second about a year later in an arena. Not as good, sound wasn't great. They're a great live act tho. Dave's awesome.
Happy up here in my tree

I saw them here a couple of years ago at the same venue as this year's Big Day Out & tbh I can't remember it at all, not coz I was wasted or anything just coz, well,I remember it was good but it obviously didn't rock my boat as much as PJ's '09 show did. I was like about the equivalent of the back of the pit if it was a PJ concert & by myself but then I was further back at PJ's '09 show & again on my own so yeah sorry, not much useful input to give. I remember it was good but that's about it. A good gig to go to but didn't shake my world.

They look like they would be awesome, but I can't stand the way Grohl screams at ALL of the big moments. Otherwise, it seems like they have plenty of hits to truck out night after night.

I've also heard they can be spotty soundwise.

Saw them at MSG in 2011 -- epic show. They give it everything they have for 3 hours. Only bummer is that their set lists seldom vary on a tour so not a lot of incentive to catch multiple dates unless you're a true diehard. Great entertainment, though!

Foo fighters are one of my fave live bands. Their live show is awesome. Seen them 3 times. Dave is funny too. Only thing I wish the'd do is change up the setlists more.

I've seen them twice... Columbus 2011 and Music Midtown in 2012. Very similar sets, so it wasn't as special the second time. But the first show was one of my top 5 concert experiences to date.

I'm anxious to try and catch them this fall when they're touring a new album.

    Yes. Dave is really funny.

He's good buddies with Jack Black. Think of hanging out with those guys for a weekend.

    * Have only seen once and was really impressed. They are great and their catalogue is huge. They just kept pumping out great songs.

Awesome awesome show. Play for about 3 hours nonstop and don't mess around. Some good stories and tidbits you will get from Dave, too. One of the best rock bands live out there.

I've been to 2 shows - Worcester 08 and Boston 11. Boston 11 was my son's 1st concert ---- little heavy on the language for an 8 year old but great show nonetheless. Dave is a great frontman - entertaining as hell.

Saw them in the '00s, acoustic opening for Dylan, I really liked it. It was obviously a different sounds, but it worked.

Easily one of the most fun shows someone could go to. I've seen them in 3 different settings- front row at a small club (9:30 Club, last month), at a festival (Global Citizen Festival, 2012), and at an arena show (DC, 2011). Each show they gave 150% and really know how to work the audience. Dave is an incredible frontman and always has the crowd in the palm of his hand, whether 1,000 people or 60,000 people. Always an amazing experience with the Foos. Can't wait for fall!
