For me some of the eighties bands are ones that I only listen to once in a long while but when I do and I'm in the right mood they are great. Most of the rest of the time I might even wonder why I would like them but when I am into them, I really dig them (if that makes sense). Some examples: Japan, Gary Numan, The Tourists, Violent Femmes, The Alarm.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

Genesis and The Police are two of my favorite 80's bands. The first festival I ever went to in '08 they headlined when they reformed and never in a million years would I thought I would have seen them live. Definitely one of the cooler things to say I've seen. That and the Beasties tore it up as well. Pretty sweet.
    '08- Camden 1-2   '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4
    '10- MSG 1-2   '11- PJ20
'12- MIA; DeLuna '13- Wrigley; Pitt; Brooklyn 1-2; Philly 1-2; Baltimore; Seattle
    '14- Denver   '16- Philly 1-2; MSG 2
    '17- Pilgrimage Music Fest (Eddie)
    '18- Fenway

    To me:

    80's Genesis = no
    70's Genesis = yes

    The Smithereens
    Styx
    REO Speedwagon

    Failure!

They are currently touring and we went to see them in Detroit last night. The venue was nice and cosy, the show was spectacular and the whole audience sang along. It was pretty cool. Go see them if you can :)

I heard Dress on the radio the other day and had to go and listen to Dry in its entirety. I'm sure it's on vinyl (I need to find it) and that is an album that everyone should own.

She is fab. Plays almost every instrument on her records, very unique and distinctive style. She has the sexiest voice ever maybe, that can make a straight lady like myself swoon. PJ Harvey is the name of her band; She is Polly Jean Harvey. Let's take this to the other thread, WTM, lol

Seven Mary Three gets overlooked, they're incredible! Though Cumbersome and Water's Edge still get overplayed on the radio, Churn was an excellent first record and everything they've done since has been equally as good or better...

Getting ready for the Counting Crows tonight and listening to a lot of Toad The Wet Sprocket who are opening. I rediscover them every few years. Good 90's stuff. Need to give the new album a listen.
