Damn, this is even worse than missing out on Leash, Hail Hail and Black in Prague. Wonder who would've sang Hunger Strike with them, a certain someone who lives in Paris these days?

It's a bit meh for me. I had the option of either Paris or Marseille, and I'm thankful I chose Marseille. Paris' setlist was too similar to Reading.
  • Wow, i was at Paris and if they had played hunger strike i would have been in even more heaven than i was at Reading when they played crown of thorns !!

I have to say what an easy venue to get to the Bercy arena is, 1 change from pigalle on the metro ( station right next to it ) great outdoor bar, easy exit, was back in pigalle drinking in the cockney tavern an hour after the show, i guarantee that it won't be that easy at wembley.

    peace - Nick.

F-ck. That one song that would my prague experience complete would be leash. well well i still did get nothingman, whipping, last exit and comatose.

Why do they skip some songs, is it just that it´s enought time or have the always some extras incase that don´t feel like playing a certain song?

  • I was there for that show. Was absolutely amazing! :D

(I had to travel from London to Paris by myself...) But it was worth it to see 'Rocking In The Free World + Hunger Strike' :p
  • Anyway, the set was almost perfect & the versions were great (remember "ritfw" ?)

That day was warm & sunny,
and all the terrasses de café were full and great.

That day was special and the gig was great. What else can you ask for ?

That's why I hope they come back in Paris on a european leg 2 !!!

For me, it's great to hear english people saying how good it was to be in Paris as many try to make french & english "ennemies"...
We are not ennemies, we are different. And difference is a natural and we need it. And many french people love England & its people.

Cheers to our english "cousins" !!

    PS
    I'll be in Wembley !
Still waiting for a gig in Paris (in a venue not a festival) since 2006...

i was in bercy for that concert. we had four beautiful days leading up to it. and spent the day in the frog bar in bercy village before the concert.

a gentle stroll through the park to get to the palais but it was so warm we went into novotel beside it for some more refreshments.

the concert was fantastic although we did feel the band slowed it down due to the crowd surfing that was going on, which looked great from where we were sitting.

yeah, was a beautiful day, RITFW was superb, eddie mashed up about 15 tambourines during that version, it was funny!.

for me you had to be at the front at that show, it seemd to be a nightmare behind me (we were stood infront of jeff), i really loved the show because it was so different to the Leeds setlist i'd seen the week before.

Paris is beautiful, easy to get lost though, we were there 2 days and i got us lost about 20 times! and getting a taxi back to the hotel was a nightmare!, we had to basically grab a cab coming off the freeway and then get dropped off at the nord train station cos i couldn't remember the exact name of the hotel!lol, god i felt ignorant, it is 10 years since i got my GCSE french grade!!

  • I was also at Paris last year. I was caught up in a nasty crush at the start - about 10 people back from Mikes side of the stage- but we moved back a bit and then had plenty of room to enjoy ourselves.
The set was amazing, but would of been even more so if they'd played Hunger Strike and Baba!!
Roll on Wembley, i cannot wait!!!

    Oh yes it was !

Yesterday for example, I listened to the Mansfield 2003 boot and in comparison, Paris crowd 2006 was so much louder !

Picture in a frame is the Tom Waits song that was debuted in Milan I believe.

Modern Girl is the Sleater-Kinney song ("my whole life...like a picture of a sunny day" ;)) that has been tagged to Not for You or occasionally Betterman since the 05 tour.

Paris was awsome, had to leave Plymouth at midnight to get the coach to waterloo, got to Paris with hardly any sleep. Went and paid a visit to Jim Morrison's grave, had a few beers, had a 30 minute sleep in the hotel then onto to the gig which really was amazing.

I also visited jims grave, the day after the show, IT WAS SO HOT!!!! man i was sweating.......they could have buried him a bit closer to the entrance !!, mind you, it's an impressive cemetary...so i guess it was worth the hike.
