I got this email from a trade group who is having a convention in Cinci. Thought some of you might be interested. I don't know what hotel he/she is talking about as I am not going to this convention. Not sure why I got it, but oh well.
Closer to the hotel, you will find a ton of dinner options and these are my top places within walking distance:
1. Orchids at the Palm Court. Best restaurant in town with a Gatsby setting. Forbes 4 star that will go above and beyond. They have a great happy hour at the bar that you can visit for much cheaper fare than dinner. Great drinks! 2. Sotto. Hottest restaurant in the city. Make reservations early (think 3 weeks). Italian French that is simple in presentation and high on taste and flavor. Cool underground entry and bar. 3. BOCA. Priciest restaurant in town. Beautiful space in the old Maisonette building. All you could want and more but you will spend $$$. 4. 21C. It boasts a rooftop bar that’s great for pre-diner cocktails. The restaurant in the hotel, Metropole, is great as well. Right next door to the Contemporary Art Center, which is a very cool building. 5. Nada. High end Mexican with great cocktails and guacamole. Nice patio. 6. Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse. One of the best steakhouses in the country. The bar has great live music nightly as well. 7. Great happy hours are everywhere. McCormick’s has a good one and it's attached to the hotel. Across the street on the square: Palomino, Via Vite, Morton's and Rock Bottom are all serviceable. Best wings in town are at Knockback Nat's on 7th.
For something sweet: Graeters Ice Cream is on Fountain Square and Holtmans Donuts is a late night treat in OTR.
Nightspots Close to the Hotel The Banks entertainment district next door to the park offers something for everyone. If you are looking to grab craft beers, go to Moerlien Lager House (unique to Cincy), Holy Grail or the Yard House. All have above average bar food and the beer selections are good. More options include Jefferson Social, Tin Roof or Toby Keith’s. If the bar scene isn't your thing, check out the new riverfront park just South of the baseball stadium. There is a little something for everyone down there.
A little further away: If you are feeling adventurous, head to Over the Rhine (OTR) for smaller chef-driven venues. Many of these places are in Food & Wine Magazine, etc. Don't expect to make reservations, as many don't take them. All will take your cell number and call you when the table is ready. 10 to 15 options make it kind of like a fancy food court in city. From the hotel, I probably wouldn't walk, but cabs are easy to grab and we have UBER and Lyft in Cincy.
Here's where I would visit, just be careful walking around up there later in the evening.
1. Bakersfield — Tacos, whiskey, tequila. Simply awesome. 2. The Eagle — Best fried chicken ever 3. Senate — #1 hot dog place in USA right now. Grab a dog but save room for short rib poutine 4. A Tavola — wood fired pizza (and a great Old Fashioned cocktail) 5. The Lackman — great bar to wait at if you can't get a table 6. KAZE — great space, cocktails, and sushi 7. Japps — classic cocktail lounge, best bar in the city. Friday happy hour is fantastic (New Orleans in Cincy) While in OTR check out the new Washington Park next to the beautiful Music Hall. Old meets new and it's great. I hope everyone has a great time in our city!

I hope that most go to the pre-party at Beer Sellers or Cellars (Sellers makes more sense as I don't remember going to a basement). I posted the other suggestions for those coming early, like my husband and I. The pre-party at Beer Sellers in 2006 was so much fun. That is a great place for a party overlooking the river. And it was fun to be transported across the river to the stadium via "party barge." And the boat brings everyone back too. So no walking, driving, or cabs. We are staying in Newport.
