    It seems a bit cultish and also a bit pyramid-schemey.


    People go in and are given a structured workout. They stick with it, and are encouraged to pay crossfit for certifications to be a coach or open their own club, etc. Obviously there is only so much demand for that...

    The moves also make my back hurt just watching these people. Pushing heavy things across an asphalt parking lot, the Clean & Jerk, etc all coached by people who are underqualified IMO. Series back and joint issues waiting to happen.

    well therell be no coaching or club opening for my daughter.. she already has a demanding irregular hour job that requires a shitload of travel.

    I hear you on these issues. Quality of instruction, equipment and people varies a lot with these outfits. Choose carefully -- but when done right the workouts are great.

    yeah, overall it seems good and a great way to be on a "team" and make some friends, etc. I really dont know too many specifics other than those who post pictures of themselves working out endlessly on facebook and it makes me cringe.

    I believe someone was recently paralyzed from it which has created a stir.

    basically it seems that you just need to be very careful in choosing your facility and instructor, as well as work out within your limits.

    The problem is, many people go in entry-level and dont know any better, and the environment pushes participants to exceed their safe limit.

    I bet a lot more people are getting hurt but you don't hear about it. The crossfit people I know also do very little cardio. Strong....but can't even run a mile without being tired which is pathetic
