Paying It Forward: Wrigley XL Setlist Shirt

DamiensDamiens Posts: 772
Blood Red Mosquito said this morning he's sending me the NOLA sticker I've been trying to get for the last few months on this forum. This is an awesome and very generous gesture. I'd like to return the favor to the community. I've got a Wrigley Setlist Shirt (XL) that I will send free of charge to the winning member. Just post your favorite Pearl Jam related experience/story. My wife and I will vote next weekend and get a new shirt out in the mail to you. A huge public thanks again to Blood Red Mosquito for the hook up.

Meeting my best friend Matt (mfc2006) on this board & forming a band called Cluthe/Lee back in 2009. We got asked by Wishlist to play the Wishlist pre-party at PJ20 in Wisconsin in 2011. Have made 3 records together, & formed a life long friendship. All because of Pearl Jam & these forums.

That's so awesome that you got your Nola and so generous to give away your Wrigley shirt. I won't fit into the shirt so I don't want to enter but I will share my Eddie story.

Earlier in the year I saw PJ at Sydney BDO, then my husband and I saw 2 of Eddie's live shows in Sydney, after that I started getting sad realising I wouldn't see PJ or Eddie for a number of years since they come to Australia every 3-4 years. 3 days before Eds Brisbane show, someone posted on here tickets were available, so I went into ticket site and there were 3 tickets in a row in row10. So that afternoon I arranged, accommodation and pet minding.
My husband, 9yo and myself flew up on the dates the concert. Afternoon started off meeting a 10club member and hanging out for the raffles. A bit later my son and I went into the QPAC to pick up our tickets only to find that tickets were not available but if I stayed I would be the 9th person for the signed poster. "What was the poster?" I asked but no-one knew right until the first poster was sold....talk about anticipation!!!

So Bailey and I stayed and about 30mins later the group I was with headed out side...I thought our posters were coming....but no we followed to see and meet Ed. Words can't describe the feeling, he was an amazing friendly guy. All I could babble was thank you thank you. Ed shook my sons and my hands and Eds security guard gave my son 2 picks. My son was so excited as you can imagine, not long later when we were waiting for the poster Bailey was playing with the picks and said "mum which is your favourite pick." I said "batgirl" he looked at me and said " mum this is for you" and he gave me the pick and I almost cried that was the sweetest moment.

So the concert hadn't started, we had met Ed, my Bailey had given me a pick he was given and I had gotten one of the signed posters and I loved the nautilus snail poster absolutely beautiful and to buy a signed poster on the night we met Ed just amazing.

The night kept getting better I met more lovely people while waiting for the raffle to be drawn. this concert was the best of the 3 nights I went too.

Ed absolutely fantastic set list...like it was written for me. Loved hearing Gone, Soldier of my love, Kids are ok and my most favourite song....Smile, Ed and Glen together what a combination. Ed played to the Brisbane audience like he wanted to please everyone right to the very end, after Hard Sun he couldn't just leave it at that he ran back on stage and we got one more song Dream a little dream. Ed said early on in the night that he wanted tonight to be a bit different...and he came thru.

dude, you stole my story!! :)

Since I can't repeat what he said (but I feel the same way), I'll say that meeting people from all over the world that I would not have met otherwise. And now they're my friends. Thanks, PJ!

Another memory that I'll never forget is being with my wife as she saw them for the first time in Austin (2009). She liked them a lot, but as soon as they hit the stage with "Why Go" she leaned over & said "holy shit...I get it."
    I LOVE MUSIC.

The fist bump... There's two times in my 36 year life a simple fist bump has mean the world to me. 1st one when my Dad came out out of a massive operation removing a third of stomach to get rid of cancer. I walk into his room hooked up to machines. He Smiles and just gives me a fist bump and says I made it never been so glad to get a fist bump before. The second was a raining Cats n dogs kind of a day Wednesday 19th feb about 5pm. A Van pulls up with four people in it goes behind some gates. A very cool guy jumps out to meet some of his fans who waited for hours just to get a climpse or even a hello. But Eddie does more than that he starts at one end of the fence and chats to every one. Gets to the middle of the fence where my girlfriend Panda and I are standing. All I can say to him is thank you for the last 20 years he turns to me and thank me then gives a fist bump thru the fence. I was completely stoked. Here's a guy who I watched on many occasions pierce my Soul with his music Arc on the Sunday night left me speechless. My father gave me life and gave me everything made me rthe man I am today. Pearl jam and Eddie Vedder have made me live let go and be myself. Like riding a wave of life the good the bad there's a song for every moment of your life. That's a lot of hours of pearl jam. Thru YouTube CDs vinyl concerts. So I guess it was fitting for all I could say was thank you Eddie for 20 years of music.

i posted this for another favorite pj moment giveaway...thank you for the RAK, I would love the shirt

Two day drive with my wife to Wrigley from NYC. Our first baby was due that winter, so we both knew it would be one of our last "alone" trips for a while. TC Upper Section. Such anticipation.....Opening chords of Release, i tear up......the random girl next to me turns to the guy she's with and laughs, "look at the guy next to me crying. haha!"

I love how their music hits me on such a level. Almost nothing else makes me feel the way PJ does.

When I heard it live for the first time at PJ20 - total lump in throat, tearing up - a combination of feeling connected to a shitload of people all at once, knowing my friend got to hear it for the first time....
