They're all duplicates he said, so playing them or not playing them is a moot point.
I can't say I think that sealed albums in a frame would look any good though. Why not just keep them where you can pick them up and look at both sides, etc? I just don't see the point in a framed sealed album. That awesome frame job posted earlier with the Pitt poster is fantastic - that's the kind of thing that makes a framed record look good. If I were you, I'd sell or trade the sealed albums for awesome poster art to frame. That would look way cooler IMO. But hey, it's your stuff! Do whatever you want with it of course! :)

My point would be he is taking some sealed vinyl potentially out of circulation. If he has two and plays one, keeps the other sealed than that is one less that I will ever get my hands on :(( ;)

But it is the OP's stuff to do what he wants. I liked that Pittsburg layout. Best I have seen in a while.

If I had duplicates I would do something crafty too. I would have/want to split the gatefold so that everything was showing in the frame. JMO.

  • Totally agree but can bring my self to open the sealed PJ. Got 2 copies of Vitalogy, No code and Yield from the epic closet back in 98. Scored a couple of binaural along the way too

Maybe buy some reissues then if you are going to go through all of the trouble of framing all of this and slice those up while displaying the originals sealed and framed. I too have been trying to figure out a way to craft their albums in a professional way.

But my two cents is if you have originals sealed, just hang onto them and frame reissues. You could display the albums in a crafty way buy shadow boxing them altogether or something cheaper then a full frame job. I'm glad I don't have your problems :^o

  • When they release No code, Yield and Binaural reissues I'll consider that. Having 2 of each makes it easy. Really my only concern is damage to the vinyl. 2 copies or not I don't want them damaged. The rest is just whatever floats your boat. Thanks though

Shadow boxing those frames hobbes posted would be the way to go if you want to just display the sealed albums.

  • That's cool idea thanks

You really don't play your records? I know, NOMDB, but that always amazes me. But they're yours- do as you like. :-)

He has playable ones as well as sealed ones. To each their own.

  • Yep I have two of almost every PJ studio album. All but two. I used to know people. Didn't buy most of them. I was lucky that way once upon a time. Will probably never part with either. Pass them down to my daughters some day. One for each.
  • That is the epic stuff except for ten.

If I personally had duplicates I would get them out there in the world or have plans to eventually, but hey, that's just me. I simply think that a SEALED framed album would look weird. That cellophane isn't exactly attractive.

I'm with dankind...IF you want to frame your record, GO FOR IT!!
I put my BAD copy of "Lightning Bolt" in the frame job with my Pittsburgh / Munk One poster!!

I agree with what you are saying which is why I probed a little earlier to get them into some one else's hands, say- me?

But I would love to have framed gatefolds displaying the artwork and pictures.

So if I had some that I play on the turntable and some just sitting there ( I will never own duplicates of their original hard to find pressings, let alone the originals) I think it would be cool to hang the entire gatefold. When, WHEN, they reissue their albums I will probably do something like that.

I love the conversation. Really only concerned about damage to the vinyl. Guess I wasn't clear about that. I would sell them rather than give them to my kids because? Thanks definitely been fun

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. I really have no idea the answer to your question.
