Where should we stay in Madrid if we would like to be near Festimad??? Where is the venue exactly by the underground??? And how can we get back to the center???

Got my tickets too ! :)

Not a big festival (20000 tickets on sale) and the cheapest show from the tour I guess.

The festival is in a town in the south called Leganes. It's a small football stadium called Butarque:

    http://external.cache.el-mundo.net/elmundodeporte/especiales/2002/08/liga/segunda/equipos/leganes/imagenes/estadio.jpg

You can arrive there using the "metro" (underground). Find "Leganes" in line 12

"Metro" works only until 1.30 on saturdays but promotor said that all concerts will finish at 0.30

Sorry guys, could you help me find out what that line means???

I will go to collect them:

Once the purchase is complete, and at your own convenience, you can pick up your tickets at any of the following collection points: up to 72 hours* before the show (weekends, festiveness not included) in Authorised shops and from to 2 hours before the show in Venue´s Ticket Offices

does this mean if I arrive on Friday I can pick it up only at the Venue's Ticket??? What's this 72 hours stuff?
or I can't pick it up there at all???

    What I understood:

    - if you buy the tix via web and you don't want to spend 40 euros shipping, you have to be in madrid a useful time before WHICH is 72 hours before the show excluded weekends. So:tuesday

Check out also the other sites where they sell (now only tick tack have them) .
At Corte Ingles I bought some tickets for festivals in the past and pick them up the same day of the start date of the gig.

could you give me the link of other sites, please???

I've used ticktacktickets several times so I will try to explain...

You can collect your tickets in Madrid in any authorised shops (Corte Ingles, FNAC or other record shops) until wednesday 6. Since then you have to collect them in the venue before the show.

They just try to explain that weekends don't count on those 72 hours.

Two days before the show the tickets that have not been collected are printed and taken to the venue. So you can collect them in an envelope with your name just before entering into the festival.

    sorry for my english !

  • I have been debating this show with my brothers -->we all went to Dublin and had a blast last year.

Has anybody been to this festival before? Can you give me a guess on the set length, time allotment PJ would have. Are we talking like the short opening for Petty length or is it almost a whole show 30+ songs.

    Thanks.

Not quite sure where to stay....
hotel near the airport, hotel in the city or are there hotels in Leganes?

Hotel near the airport might be the easiest- if public transport is o.k.
    Hmmm....
    Thanks for the info though!:D

Holiday Inn next to the airport, only 45 Euros per night for the room, with breakfast in the morning.
Good if more than one person going.

finally an up-to-date official homepage of the Madrid Festimad has been created!!! it should have been happened before tickets went on sale:) but c'est la vie...

    http://www.festimad.es

  • I have a wedding in Valencia... on the 8th... so it's tempting to go to madrid when I am in the country... but it would be a tad hectic.... then I'd have to go back to amsterdam on the sunday only to go to Munich on the Tuesday.... I'm not sure whether to go for it or not...

What are people's previous experiences of Festimad? How many people is it? I donlt really want to run accross the country to be behind 100,000 people with a small view of the band....

from the line-ups i previous years, it's kind of Download-type.
    it's only 20.000..quite small then.
  • I really want to go. But skint at the moment, so hopefuly the tickets wont all magically disappear in a few days
  • June's getting so busy...... I don't know if I can do festivals... I've got a laptop with me half the time - so no sleeping rough like last year. I have at least two conferences... a wedding... and Smashing Pumpkins have been really inconsiderate and published three dates to coincide with PJ....

Humph.... I'm just a glutton for punishment... I always bite off more than I can chew...

    But on the bright side...

    MORE PJ DATES!!!!!

    :):):)

Smashing Pumpkins will do several festivals WITH PJ..Nova Rock for a start..
  • festimad is normally a good gig. The sets per band are about 40mins each!

the atmosphere is great, the weather is awesome and the cheap beer makes it all worthwhile! Madrid is also a beautiful city if u get a chance to have a nosey about.

You got a source for that? Or is it just a guess. I find Billy Corgan incredibly unpredictable it's part of his charm. He may just play 2 german festivals and an austrian one and then split the band up again.

they're confirmed for Nova Rock and strongly rumoured for Werchter.
There's also strong rumours for Download (PJ can't do that one)..so I'd say others might be on the cards too..

For my schedule, Werchter would be an absolute gift.... I'm still a little confused by starting a comeback in Germany.... or even Europe... not even a warm up show in chicago - unless its coming soon... WHo knows... I saw billy solo in Ghent in 2005, and the reception wasn't great... Hmmm who knows when it comes to Corgan...
