Hurricane Festival, 24.06.2007. Who's going + info.

Hi, I'm planning to go to this festival with a friend. We're doing London, Dusseldorf and then Copenhagen.
I haven't seen any thread about this festival so I'm starting this one.

First of all, who's going? We'd like to meet PJ fans there. :)

According to the website http://www.hurricane.de these are the first bands announced.

Arcade Fire
Beastie Boys
Bloc Party
Die Fantastischen Vier
Fotos
Incubus
Kings Of Leon
Marilyn Manson
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Pearl Jam
Sonic Youth
Virginia Jetzt!

I'm very excited about Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire and Sonic Youth. And PJ, of course. :D

I understand from the website that tickets will be on sale at the beginning of March but... correct me if I'm wrong 'cause I don't speak German. So any help from German fans and any help in general is more than welcome.
I'm wondering if it'll be possible to buy one day ticket, because we planned to arrive there on the 23rd and we'll leave on the 25th.

If you have any useful info about hotel/hostels close to the festival, please post them here.

Thanks in advance! :)

    Hey,

A friend and I are going to the Hurricaine Festival. Also London, Dusseldorf, Nijmegan and Werchter.

Were staying at a youth hostel in Bremen, its not too far away from the festival. Apparantly there will be loads of bus links etc.

There will be thousands of tickets, so i wouldnt worry about that too much!

Sonic Youth will be amasing, Incubus will be pretty cool, always better Live in my opinion. Cant wait!!!

Let's stay tuned for more details in the next weeks.
We have to decide still where to sleep and how to get there from Dusseldorf.
    Maybe by train.

Anyway, it seems a nice festival and I can't wait too. :)

I don't know, I hope they sell one day tickets.
I've found this unofficial website (http://www.hurricane-festival.de/english.html) and they say tickets cost 89 euro including camping and other stuff. I think it's the price for the three days and maybe these are old info taken from last year.

Of course, if we go, we can all meet somewhere and form a jammers group :)

    More news from http://www.hurricane.de

The following bands have been added:
Bright Eyes, Editors, The Good The Bad & The Queen, The Hold Steady, Interpol, Juliette & The Licks, Karpatenhund, Modest Mouse, Ohrbooten, Snow Patrol

And... I'm copying what I found on the website if someone wants to help with translation.

I guess they are talking about tickets being on sale on March 1st. It seems that they mention a 3 days pass, right?

from march 1st on you can buy three-day-passes over the festival-websites, over the other pre-sale offices or by phoning under (0049 would be the prefix for germany) 01805-853 653
this year we have to arrange our ticket-prices with the increased production-costs. for our festival-fans there is a limited (20 000 tickets) ''early bird''-ticket for 99 euros including camping/parking available (+ you have to pay 5 euros more for garbage-refund if youre camping, but i dunno if you have to buy that when buying your tickets or directly at the festival)
if this contingent is sold out the tickets are going to cost 109 euros.

im going to go to this festivals twinbrother down in the south, but i hope i was able to help you anyways :)

    Just received my ticket.....it's a 3 day pass....I don't think they'll
be selling one day passes for Hurricane.

    Don't know about Southside though...

I just gave in and bought both Hurricane and Nova Rock. It seems like a one-day pass is too much of a hussle and not a lot cheaper.

I'm also on the BA flight from London to Dusseldorf (at 12:05). :)

I think sleeping outside the festival and going there in the morning is too slow if you want to make it the front row or close, am I wrong?

Experience from Reading last year (and friends at Leeds):
you DO NOT need to spend the whole day at the front.
we moved into the front area when Placebo (the band right before PJ) started and had reached the front before they finished.
And Reading is a big festival and the brits are fare more savy on festivals (we have dozens every year, and all the big ones sell out in hours)..and I didn't see anyone leave after Placebo..so it wasn't even a case of turnover.

frankly..don't waste your energy staying upfront through bands you don't care for. I'm doing all the festivals and the only one I'll pretty much camp at the front is Werchter but only because I want to see the other bands before PJ...the rest..taking some rest, checking the other stages!

I paid 35 euros because I couldn't wait to check other websites. It was still the 10club syndrome, I guess. At least I bought tickets for me and my friend, so it's something more than 17 euros per person. Too much anyway. But the tickets arrived the day after... flying on a plane in business class, I think. :D

Thanks Pegasus for the info. I was worried I would have to spend the whole day at the front. I'm a festival virgin... :)

My tickets also flew business class for 35 Euros. Ouch! Bought them thru Eventim and they were at my door the next day.

If anyone has more tips regarding festivals (especially seeing PJ in a festival at the front row) it would be much appreciated . I checked the web for some festival survival guides but there are not many.
