Chicago murder totals lowest in 56 years

I'm sure it just a coincidence that Illinois finally stopped restricting the rights of the citizens and approved concealed carry.

All a coincidence.

It seems it happens in every state that passes CC. I'm sure that's coincidence too.

You really can twist stories to suit your warped viewpoints, eh?

"and police said more than 1,300 illegal guns were recovered in the last three months."

but this story has everything to do with more people having guns and thus crime went down, right?

Do many Americans spend their entire waking life obsessing about fucking guns?

    It's pathetic...

Or maybe all the angry violent people in Chicago are slowly eliminating themselves? or maybe eventually the rates would come down on their own?

Most people did not receive their CC permits until mid March, two weeks left in Quarter 1. The reason Chicagoans didn't kill eachother as much is because it was so cold.

You will never post a single article here on A Moving Gun that will convince me we should make guns more available here in the US rather than less. Statistics lie and guns (or at least too many of the people who have) them kill.

  • more importantly, based on our recent discussions, this question has to be asked....

how many bad guys with guns were directly stopped in the act by legal concealed carry licensed good guys with guns??

I bet it's about the same amount as to how many innocent bystanders were killed by the good guy bullets ....

If this means we don't have to hear about anymore antecdotal news items about how Chicago needs more guns... I think this is GREAT News!!!
    ...
(also... i believe the persons who said it has been freezing ass in Chicago for the past 3 months and the cops reducing the number illegal guns in the city, were correct in deducing that those were probably determining factors)

i agree about the cold, it was a bitch of a winter. If we have a nasty summer and it holds low, then I may be swayed.

This was also the coldest January, February in the history of the Chicago. Most of the city stayed indoors 7 days a week other than going to and from work.

In addition, couldn't you start applying for the conceal and carry permit mid-January? Still takes a few weeks to actually get your permit? It wasn't like January 1st every gun owner was packing on their walk to Dunkin Donuts.

Couldn't have been cold, not with that whole global warming thing going on.

Chicago is always going to be the most backwards and most corrupt city in this country. The fact of the matter is guns, no matter the number, will never be the reason that Chicago is what it is. The people make that city what it is, and that city has some of the most wretched and vile people on the planet.

what about pyongyang? what about kabul? what about the gaza region?

statements like that make this entire topic laughable.

to be fair gimme, he said "in this country" and with gang violence as bad as it is, i'm not sure you can easily refute that. All the regions mentioned suffer terrible socioeconomic disparities that I would prefer to blame rather than the people. Then again, I have always said if you can be dirt poor in a ghetto, you can be dirt poor anywhere so get the fuck out!

Unsung, it was cold this winter because the ice queen of Nathnamar stoved her toe and she was pissed off. Global warming is a hoax that her brother, the Fire Prince is promoting in order to redistribute wealth. Either that, or science is real.

If Chicago isn't working for you, you can either stay and wallow in your bitterness, dig deeper to find the good in Chicago, or find a way and move out of there asap. You've said before you planned to. I don't know how long you've been there, but make a plan and go. I've moved a lot, switching back and forth between jobs vs quality of life as the priority, and often taking a hit in income or security to do it.... but I've never regretted a move or found that adapting to new wasn't beneficial in some way. If you move and still have this outlook, then maybe it's your outlook. You can find vile and wretched anywhere. But at least give yourself a chance to re-set - life's way too short.
And I know you're not looking for advice, especially from me, but in this I'm sincere. Still, Colorado probably isn't for you (remember our 15rd mag limits).

Yeah, it is a work in progress, I am not the type to simply pack up and leave. I prefer to plan things out, do plenty of of research, and make sure the financials are in order. The last thing I want to do is fail and have to come back.

As much as the scenery and outdoors of Colorado amaze me you are correct in that I couldn't move there based on certain restrictions. We are looking at a couple of other states, and the GF can waver sometimes with the family thing, but I believe we will make a move in the next few years provided I can secure employment.

The killing fields are about to begin in Chicago. Warmer weather is right around the corner and the savages have thousands of of scores to settle. The cold weather is 100% the reason for the drop in murders….I know, I work the wild wild Westside dealing with the animal every single day. There is no reason for a honkie like me to go into the ghetto other than to buy dope or collect rent and if you do for whatever dumb libtarded reason that I hear everyday you have to be out of your mind to not carry a pistol. Chicago is a great city and we do out best to keep the shitheads away from the tax paying element of society by keeping them detained in certain areas, but they do get out every once in awhile and suck down a sheep. Hopefully the gangbangers will pickup the killings a bit to thin the herd and more importantly the gene pool…Now that is the true problem…REPRODCTION of ghetto trash that me and you pay for. Hows that CHANGE treating you now???

Well the truth hurts. Nobody wants to hear it and definitely not say it. Throw Money at the problem and the phony politically connected reverends are happy. If the reverends are happy the sheep are happy.

I was hoping the rant - nay, "truth" - was something out of a film or book I hadn't seen or read.

    (kinda wish it were!)
