I use a Shure M97xe and I've been really happy with it, got it for around $85. The one you have is more their DJ cartridge, so the emphasis on that particular one is skip resistance, hence the heavy tracking force. It really depends on what application you're looking to use it for. If you're looking for just a decent entry level cartridge you should be fine with that, especially if you're using it to play less than mint records as the skip resistance should be good. The main thing is make sure you take the time to set the cartridge up correctly from an alignment standpoint (there's numerous good videos on you tube on how to do so).
You shouldn't see a ton of record wear as Shure overall makes good products, but you'll see more than using a higher performance stylus, but that's always the case. However, it shouldn't be like the Crosley ceramic stylus's that really do hurt the records). If you're looking to upgrade into more of the $100 range I'd recommend the Shure M97xe I have or Ortofon 2M red is really good as well (Ortofon has a whole line of Red > Blue > Bronze > Black with the quality and price point going up each time. The Bronze is like $400, Black is something like $900). The red you can find for $100 and is probably going to be my next cartridge.
Weird I actually chose the Shure M97xe over the Orofon Red, from what I read thought it was a better product.
Yeah I've heard they're pretty comprable, I was thinking of trying it next just cause I tried Shure already and wanted to see if there's a difference. Been super happy with the Shure though
