10 runs through six innings? Hey if nothing else, it'll breathe a little confidence into these guys.

Well I started this one expecting that everyone would join just it like the last one. But Jearlpam started a different one and the people have spoken I guess. Nearly 40 replies there vs just 9 here. I figured that thread won the day and I should voice my Stairs/Moyer complaints there.

The #Phillies are 93-69 in the last 162 games started by Ryan Howard.

Over his last 151 games he has hit .244/.307/.445. That is not WAR, its a simple triple slash line and anyone who thinks that can carry a baseball team over a full season is a moron.

Robinson Cano is three times the player Howard is and the Yanks won 85 games last year, so no, one player does not carry a team to a 93 win record.

oh I agree one player doesn't make a team with 93 games BUT when you have a stat like WAR that says he is only worth a game or two over a replacement but the team's record is consistency MUCH better with said player in the lineup over a number of years then to me that's indicative of WAR being pretty much a crock of shit. fact is when Ryan starts the Phils win games regardless of his performance. it's the whole some guys just make others better argument. some guys get stats only and some guys help the team win. for some reason that the haters can't explain and even with not great personal numbers the phils win games when ryan is the lineup. period.

That stat clearly shows that the Phillies did not overpay him.
