Well, I posted an ISO there a while back, and got zero responses, zero likes, and there is no way to bump a post in Facebook. Pretty sure that if I'd posted the same thing here I would have had way better results and know that I could bump the thread and keep it going. Posts are just getting buried over there a lot i think. Plus, i know who i can trust here for the most part. Just my review. I'll personally stick to Lost Dogs and eBay. But if FB is working for this purpose for some people, more power to them. Though to be honest, I don't understand the complaints aboit this forum. It really seems to work well and have no idea why people would find reason not to use it. I totally understand wanting several different marketplaces, but not how anyone would actually be seeking an alternative one in favor of the lost dogs board.

I do think it would be rad for someone to create a site kind of like ebeans, but more user friendly and aesthetically pleasing, with a really cool trading app that would work similar to ebay but merch can be offered, or a "buy it now" option that would be a specific item or dollar amount... notifications like ebeans has, etc. It would include Vinyl and all the other stuff. Other rock "acts" than PJ as well. Heck, even the poster artists themselves can hook into it and sell their stuff directly to their market.
give it a little time. the FB group is working great for tons of people. It might be a better fit for sellers than buyers.
this place is slowly dying. and there is PLENTY of people who lurk around here giving advice about peoples pricing, calling them out on selling things they "haven't held long enough to make a profit", etc. It can at times get hostile. i think the FB Group is a great idea and i intend to use it in conjunction with Lost Dogs moving forward.

Makes much more sense...
2011: East Troy, WI 1 & 2; Toronto ON 1 & 2; Hamilton ON
2012: Berlin, Germany 1& 2; Stockholm Sweden; Oslo Norway; Copenhagen Denmark
2013: Wrigley Field- Chicago, IL; Philadelphia, PA 1 & 2; Hartford, CT; Vancouver BC; Seattle, WA.
2014: Cincinnati, OH; St. Louis, MO; Moline, IL; Milwaukee, WI 2016: Wrigley Field- Chicago 1&2
I honestly think if 10C would make this board look a little more aesthetically pleasing, people would stay/come back. Good luck with the FB group, though. As PJ_Soul mentioned, it's always good to have several marketplaces. I don't have FB though, so unfortunately it'll be lost on me.
I really dont think its dying. I have made more deals in the past 3 months than the rest of the life of the board combined...
And I do think people need to be called out a bit for sniping a hard to get item and within days (or less) dangling it here for 5X+ the purchase price in money or goods. You do what you want to do prevails with that (which is fine), but there does need to be something said/balls busted as (a small) deterrent. Also, when you see people "maxing" out and basically charging "ebay pricing" or more without the fees. Same thing. Sometimes they need to be called out, but "you do what you want" prevails.
Then the only real tangible rules are tickets and no auctions. Pretty simple.
Its a lot less busy on the forums as a whole as it was before the change over. that's what i meant by it dying over here. if more deals are being made on lost dogs, that's great for those people. it just seems really quiet to me. Lots of people are gone that used to be here all the time.
i personally don't care what anyone does with their own stuff anymore, I've spent too much energy thinking/ worrying about it. At the end of the day, prices are set by supply and demand. if someone wants to be crazy enough to spend big time money because material things mean that much to them, then they can have at it.
you are right about the tangible rules...but there are many unspoken ones too. I think its great to have another place to go where PJ fans are looking to buy/sell. and at least on FB you get real people with real names (for the most past) from the get go.

The forum isn't dying. This is just a temporary lull - members are just having a collective hissy fit for a while in response to the change. There are way too many 10c members for the forum to die. And actually, it's not even dead. Only the AET is dead. The rest of the boards are pretty active still I think.

I haven't been coming here that long, but it seemed much busier in the Fall to me than it does now. I haven't tried using the FB site yet, been on it, but haven't posted anything.
Am I reading the new format wrong? It appears page 1 posts on The Porch go back to 8:30 this morning (Chicago time, which is 3:05 now; so almost 7 hours ago). if I am reading that right, then yea, i would say its very quiet there as well. i remember it used to be you had to bump a new thread hourly (at least) to keep it on the front page of the Porch. Posting is not a requirement to be in 10c; I didn't say 10c was dying just that the forums were. There are tons of 10 clubbers who have never posted in the 5, 10, 15, 20 yrs they have been members. But i hope you are right and its a temporary lull. It used to be fun to hang around here and I would love to have that back.

If a newcomer's perspective means anything (and it may not, no biggie), I joined last week and I've honestly been shocked to see the eBay-level prices folks have been asking on their items around here, especially to other 10Cers who have also paid for the privilege for being in the company of hardcore PJ fans on the board.
I belong to a few other fan clubs/insider networks out in the ether, and classified sections their have always been about extending nice deals to family rather than gouging members for eBay prices.
As for the format and ebb and flow of the forum, all forums everywhere experience that organic coming and going, it's just part of it as people's lives and tastes change. I find it hard to believe a change in a Forum's formatting/color alone could cause an exodus. The only time I've experienced something like that is when forum ownership/rules changed and the place got sloppy or when a band went through a significant lineup change, fracturing the fan base.
Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?

Yeah, I know what you meant, and i disagree that the board is dying. As i said, it's just a temporary lull while members have their hissy fit. Traffic will increase again. Also, how long a post is on the front page doesn't reflect actual traffic. Only how many new posts are being made. But existing posts are super busy still. My Email box is as crammed with new post notifications as ever. People just seem somewhat more singleminded on the boards lately. Either way, A lull doesn't = dying.

Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.
No way to bump a post on fb? Really dude? Uhhhh just comment! Moves it right to the tippity top! FMIB is in its infancy. Give it time and it'll be huge!
Having tasted, a life wasted, I'm never going back again!
